SAG-AFTRA President Ken Howard fires back at Patricia Richardson

Well, this response didn't take long from Ken Howard. I must say that Howard is the only President in the last decade to reach out to Native Americans. He attended one of our SAG meetings which was great because we have some kind of support from our elected President.

Native Americans are the least represented in movies & on TV. We literally are relegated to Native Warrior roles - such as - in the upcoming LEWIS & CLARK mini-series coming from HBO. But, online streaming & cable is opening up doors for modern Native roles.

All of what SAG-AFTRA has passed is helping even the Native American union members -- in the long run. There is a lot more to do, but many will never be happy. I am just glad to be a part of a union that protects all artists. (Click on the photo below for Ken Howard's response to Patricia Richardson. SAG-AFTRA national elections 2015 Patricia Richardson's plan as President

Patricia Richardson is running against Ken Howard as SAG-AFTRA President 2015. She has laid out her plan to union members which has been sent to DEADLINE HOLLYWOOD. Interesting that she wants to unite performers on 2 sides of every issue. Performers have divided into 2 groups who are UNITE FOR STRENGTH and MEMBERSHIP FIRST. They can be no farther apart than they're right now & it doesn't look like it is going to change any time soon. There are many union members who are neutral too and who don't vote.

I'm a Native American SAG-AFTRA member & we as a group cannot get along at all. It gets way too personal by a lot of frustrated out-of-work performers. It is going to take more than a 2 year term President to resolve the infighting. 

I agree with Patricia though about the union card carrying members who work as back ground extras. They work non-union jobs in movies & on TV. That is wrong, but there are so many desperate performers who want to work. They'll do anything. I remain devoted to the union because I enjoy paying my dues & being part of the process. No non-union work!

Patricia also wants to pay more attention to local state union boards. New Mexico has a wonderful board who look out for the needs of their union members. I always get an email from our President Tom Schuch. He keeps us up to date. The deadline to vote for the national SAG-AFTRA elections is Aug. 20, 2015. I will be attending "Indigenous Fine Art Market" Aug. 20-22, 2015

I unfortunately will not be reporting for Examiner News at this year's "Indigenous Fine Art Market" IFAM 2015. Nor will I be covering the "Santa Fe Indian Market" SWAIA. But, I will be attending IFAM. I signed up for their email updates & hope that I get news on the Native Fashion Show. If they have one. 

2014 was the launch of IFAM & it was a resounding success. They filled 300 artist booths & had a great fashion show. I'll be heading to "Institute of American Indian Arts" IAIA Gala on Aug. 19, 2015. My good friend Bob buys a table every year & again invited me to sit with him & his artist friends. They always have great food & artist work auctions for IAIA. 

I'm bringing my video camera to record. So, stayed tuned...,

Sending positive vibes to former Theater director in "Daystar" dance company

Sadly -- Theatre director & playwright Ned Bobkoff has slipped farther into Alzheimer's. I worked with him & Rosalie Jones in the "Daystar Dance Company" back in the 1990's. I am sending positive vibes to Rosalie who has decided to put Ned in a nursing home because the disease is engulfing him. She cannot take care of him anymore because he needs special care. 

I talked to Ned earlier this year 2015 and he forgot that I called the next day. So, I pray that he gets the best care that he needs. I met Ned along with Rosalie who were putting together a theatre performance of "Sacred Woman, Sacred Earth" back in 1991 at Santa Fe. (Was it that long ago?) Our group had it's ups and downs, but Ned was our fearless director. He was always a tad bit frustrated but positive. 

The photo below was the last performance I did for Daystar back in 1998. You cannot see me in the photo. I'm behind Rosalie and right next to Vince Whipple (powwow dancer). It was called "Prayer of the First Dancer" where I was the narrator/actor. I had long hair back then. Ned was our director.  (It is the only photo of our performance).

I talked to a friend who worked behind the scenes of LONGMIRE. The TV western-mystery-drama is done filming in New Mexico. It will premiere & begin streaming on NETFLIX Sept. 10, 2015. I am a big fan of the show & it has been a long wait for fans because the show was cancelled by A&E in 2014. Why? Because the network felt the western only captured an older audience. The show was the highest rated drama in the history of that network too. But, NETFLIX has picked up the 4th TV season with no commercials. I am a happy fan. Let's do it...,

My 7th grade principle has died. RIP Mr. Rostock.

Well, time marches on & it has been decades since I was in 7th grade. I found out that my 7th grade principle Mr. Rostock has died at age 95. I never understood why my classmates made fun of him. He always said "hello" to me in the hallways of John Murray Junior High School. I don't think it's a school anymore. The building was built in the 1950's on a hill facing north at Pendleton, Oregon. Tommy Lee Jones & Julia Stiles to join Matt Damon for next JASON BOURNE film 2016

I am a huge fan of the Jason Bourne Series. I have all films on BluRay, and that includes "The Bourne Legacy" with Jeremy Renner (Alex Cross). Matt Damon will reprise his role as Bourne in the next sequel scheduled for movie release on July 26, 2016. The Hollywood Reporter just announced that Tommy Lee Jones has come on board to the action thriller. Julia Stiles will also return with Paul Greengrass directing. Damon did not return for "Legacy" because he said the producers didn't have a finished screenplay. So, Universal Pictures went with Jeremy Renner. (Click on the photo for news).

SAG-AFTRA 2015 National Officers Election ballot has come into the mail. Up for grabs is National President & National Treasurer where both will run for the next two years. I voted & sent in my ballot. The deadline to vote for paid up SAG-AFTRA members is Thursday Aug. 20, 2015.

JURASSIC WORLD 2015

A friend gave me tickets to see this. It was almost a rehash of the very first film in the series. The Dinosaur T-Rex is a genetic hybrid monster that is stronger than any real T-Rex. Kids are in danger & the digital age has created Jurassic World with so many different dinosaurs. The filmmakers even visit the original Jurassic Park in shambles. Very, very entertaining.

Roscoe left Facebook because of stalking/harrassment

I actually had a female stalker over at Facebook. She gave a name, but a fake picture. I have no idea how I accepted her "friendship" because I didn't just let anyone join. She got sexually vulgar & I think she is Native American. She also found out where I live which apparently is easy to do. But, I'm not where you think I am. After 6 months of her crap. I decided to call it a day at Facebook. I probably will not return. Believe it or not. There is life outside of Facebook.

She cannot get to me on my Blog.

US Billboard's top 20 Pop Songs of 1989. In-between -- They count down the TV shows in the Top 5 in ratings. THE COSBY SHOW remained in the top 5 for most of that decade. Cable TV was growing, but there were only 4 major TV networks. We got our news a day later because CNN was only on cable where most Americans didn't have it. So, Radio & Newspapers were big on information.

MILLI VANILLI was huge in 1989. I mean Huge! No one knew that they didn't sing on any of their songs. My favorite song that year was SHE DRIVES ME CRAZY when I went to all the nightclubs in Portland while in college. Back in the day. This mash up has great music videos you only saw on MTV or VH1.

I've been binge watching over at YouTube. I absolutely love it & cannot get enough of it. Back in the day, I grew up with Judge Wapner. Now, Judge Milian has been with the TV show for 15 years. I think she is the Hottest woman on legal TV shows. (She has a magnificent voluptuous body underneath that robe). The new HOT BENCH with 3 judges laying down the law is okay, but I will not stray from THE PEOPLE'S COURT. The laws surrounding small claims is so informative. She was an aggressive attorney who defended tough criminal males & females. While she was working in her law firm. Someone came in & fought Chikita to death by stabbing her 43 times. Roscoe stops writing on Native Entertainment after 13 years

SAG-AFTRA local elections unopposed is questioned by members

First, if you miss the deadline to run as a candidate in your local state. Then, you've lost out. Second, you have to be a paid up union member to run as a candidate. Third, You have to be nominated by paid up members & those who sign your petition have to be paid up as well. Read your election rules & regulations over at the SAG-AFTRA website. 

 

New Mexico candidates ran unopposed probably because the candidates running against them didn't meet the requirements. Like any election, start early if you want to run as a candidate. Most procrastinate until it's too late. In 8 US states -- Board members ran unopposed.

 

Also, SAG-AFTRA announces everything on their website including deadlines to submit as a candidate for elections. It's all there people...,

CBS "48 Hours" 2005 FBI closes case on missing man on cruise

George Smith (picture) was on his honeymoon with wife Jennifer in 2005. They went on a cruise & on July 5, 2005, George went missing into the Aegan Sea.
