PBS "Downton Abbey" Season 5 begins with secrets that cannot stay buried. The local Farmer who Lady Edith left her baby to care for, knows the truth. She keeps visiting the child because she yearns to be a real mother. 

There is still a mystery surrounding the death of a male Valet who raped Anna Bates. Her husband John is hinted at - as a suspect - in that Valet's sudden death. 

Thomas has become the nasty gossip of "Downton" who tries to bully a lady's maid, Miss Baxter about what's going on upstairs. He redeems himself after saving Lady Edith from a fire she might have deliberately set to hide her secrets...,
