This episode of 48 HOURS caused a commotion between a lot of "Alcoholics Anonymous" attendees & former AA members. THE SOBER TRUTH tells the story about a young woman joining AA & meeting a man who was abusive to women. She died & he was charged with murder. "Smith's" Robbery update Dec. 31, 2015 at Albuquerque
I talked to the manager over at my favorite SMITH'S Food & Drug Store. A lot of Native Americans, Pueblo's, Navajo's etc., live & shop at this store. I was told that the truck that crashed through the front door was stolen. Management is looking closely at the security footage of early Christmas morning 2015. I was also told that the ATM machine they stole had always broke down & there were problems with money depositing from it. The robber's will have a tough time opening the ATM because it is electronically locked. Then, they will have "Marked" money on their hands. Police are also looking at the security footage. So, I think it was a job by "Stupid Criminals."

PBS has not yet set a date for the U.S. bow of the 4th & final TV season of MR. SELFRIDGE. The trailer sneak peak has been released & Lady Mae Loxely has returned & its' about Goddamn time. She of course has divorced her husband Lord Loxely who was so nasty last TV season. Lady Mae is the sexiest woman on this TV show. The 4th TV season will begin on ITV in the U.K., this January 2016. TV audiences will see the downfall of Mr. Selfridge who gets involved with the Dolly Sisters. It happened in real life too. I believe it will bow in the U.S. in March of 2016. - Wahoo!
Favorite "Smith's" robbed on X-mas Day 2015
A lot of Native Americans live & shop at this SMITH'S grocery store including myself. Someone had driven their car or truck through the front door & stole a complete ATM machine on Christmas Day 2015. The investigation into finding the robbers has been jump started. It all starts with the security cameras.

"Elementary" CBS has repeat episode from Season 3 this Thursday Dec. 31, 2015
CBS "Elementary" will re-air an episode from Season 3 this Thursday Night on Dec. 31, 2015 at 10/9 p.m. It is called, "The Adventure of a Nutmeg Concoction." If you missed this episode, by all means, check it out. Watch the TV promo below.
"Smith's" on Yale street at Albuquerque had a complete ATM Stolen
I went to my favorite SMITH'S store & found repair-men building a temporary front door. On Christmas day 2015 when all employees were on Holiday break. A car or truck smashed through the front sliding doors. They took a complete money ATM machine & left.
It is a popular SMITH'S too where many Native Americans shop who live in the area. It is also close to the University of New Mexico (UNM). The majority of customers are students. I think it was planned, but ATM machine's are electronically locked. It is hard to break into, let alone steal whole from SMITH'S.

"Serial" Season 2, Episode 3 is called "Escaping"
I finally caught up with Season 2, Episode 3 of SERIAL called ESCAPING. Synopsis "Bergdahl’s first year in captivity starts with an escape and ends with
an escape. In between, he learns necessary, twisted lessons of survival."

Roscoe visits new Starbucks operated by 19 Pueblo Tribes
The grand opening of the new Starbucks was last week. It opened where the old Albuquerque Indian School was. That Starbucks will be operated by the 19 Pueblo Tribes which is a first for any Tribe in the U.S. It is the largest Starbucks in the state of New Mexico & customers in the area love it. I visited the coffee shop today. (Check out Photo Slideshow in article).

"Desierto" opens in Theaters Spring of 2016, recevied rave reviews at Toronto Festival
"Desierto" ( Deserted) was picked up by STX Entertainment & will premiere in the Spring of 2016. I got many views when I posted the trailer last week. Gael GarcĂa Bernal stars in this thriller about a man who travels over the desert to find his family in the U.S. He crosses the Mexican/U.S., border illegally & a sniper wants to take out as many immigrants as he can. (Someone cracked that Donald Trump produced this. Hah!)

"Point Break" 2015 grabs $10 million at U.S. box office after scathing reviews
POINT BREAK opened on Christmas Day 2015 at the U.S. Box Office. It tallied up $10 million for the weekend. Its' world wide total jumps up to $53 million & most of it coming from the China box office. The production budget was $109 million.
It failed to capture anything from the original 1991 film in which it is based. Some call the new one an adrenaline sports movie. I'm a big fan of the original & now I probably won't see this new one. Not even at the $1 movie theater in Albuquerque.

48 HOURS on CBS has former stripper engaged to 3 men in Alaska
48 HOURS on CBS is a repeat episode that spans a 20 year murder case in Alaska. LOVE AND DEATH IN ALASKA surrounds a former stripper named Mechele who had 3 male fiance's at the same time. Kent was one of those men who was shot 3 times and left in a remote part of Alaska. He writes a letter saying that if anything happens to him. Mechele & the other 2 men had something to do with it.
Mechele made nearly $3,000 a night as a stripper who used every male she met until she married, had a child & earned a master's degree. Nothing could erase her past because one guy might've killed - for her. Susan Spencer reports & gives us an update on everyone involved including the manipulative stripper who tried to change her stripes.
Click photo for TV recap over at Examiner News.
(Mechele Hughes circa 1994 in Alaska)
CBS "48 Hours" was a 2-hour episode & trounces competition in TV ratings
Nobody watched TV on Saturday night because of the Holidays. But, 48 HOURS grabbed millions of viewers which was a 2-hour episode. It is a repeat where a murder mystery had lasted 20 years. It surrounds Alaskan stripper Mechele, who strung along 3 men for money & only money. One of those men was murdered & everybody left Alaska when Kent was found shot dead in the forest.
Another death occurs & that stripper might get out of prison who was convicted of first degree murder. Mechele changed her whole life by getting married, having a child & receiving a master's degree. Her stripper past & manipulative behavior was forgotten. It all came back in her trial & her husband is a complete fool. She still acts like a child victim who bats her innocent eyes to get what she wants. A grown woman crying, "I can't get them to like me."
If you cannot wait for my TV recap. Click photo & go to 48 HOURS for the 2-hour episode.

It surrounds a stripper who changed her ways to become a happy wife & mother. Yet - back in the day - she strung along 3 men who all proposed marriage. One of them ended up murdered in Alaska.

"Bone Tomahawk" will stream on HULU & AMAZON January 2016
"Bone Tomahawk" was released in limited theaters & with Video-On-Demand earlier in 2015. The horror western will begin streaming online at HULU & AMAZON in January 2016. So, check your memberships or sign up.
"The Hateful Eight" & "The Revenant" selling out in limited theatrical releases
Critics are raving about "The Hateful Eight" & want film audiences to watch the western on the big screen. Tarantino fans have flocked to the 70 millimeter special 100 screenings nabbing $1.9 million on Friday Dec. 25, 2015. "The Revenant" is playing on only 4 screens in New York & L.A. It had grossed a very good $545,000 on Friday.
It is said that "The Hateful Eight" has been uploaded to the website "Putlocker." I searched & it is, but I'd rather watch it on the big screen. There is nothing like a theatrical experience from a director like Tarantino. 70 MM goes way back to when epic films were shown like "Ben Hur" (1959) or "El Cid" (1961). Film audiences packed the theaters for one complete year when "Ben Hur" was released.

Will Smith receiving excellent reviews for "Concussion" which opens Dec. 25, 2015
Will Smith is getting rave reviews with his new film CONCUSSION which opens today Christmas Day. There is talk of a best actor Oscar nomination. The overall reviews are pretty good & the film was recently shown before actual NFL players. The movie is about a doctor who discovers brain damage among former pro football players.
"Point Break" 2015 getting bad reviews, but rakes in $43 million at Foregin Theaters
According to "Box Office Mojo" that tracks box office receipts. POINT BREAK has pulled in $43 million at the Foreign box office. The production cost $100 million. It opens today on Christmas day 2015 & it is getting scathing reviews from critics.
It is supposed to be the remake of the 1991 POINT BREAK that starred Keanu Reeves & Patrick Swayze. The only thing in common the new film has with the 1991 movie are the names & a little bit of surfing. The new action flick is said to be an adrenaline, extreme sports movie. So, if you want to spend $14 bucks. Go right ahead. I'm gonna wait until the film hits the $1 dollar movie theater here at Albuquerque.

CBS where is "Person of Interest?" As midseason premiere dates begin January 2016
I think CBS is making fans "ticked off" because they want to. "Person of Interest" had supposedly grabbed a 5th TV season with 13 episodes. It is now mid-season 2015-16. The crime drama isn't even on the schedule from January to May. The entertainment blog DEADLINE HOLLYWOOD has made a list of mid-season TV shows & premiere's. Over 50 TV series & "Person of Interest" doesn't appear on that list. Come on CBS! Give us a break.

INDIE-WIRE reports "Revenant" & "Hateful Eight" were illegally downloaded 1 million times
INDIE-WIRE news. As the award season begins. Studios send out DVD screener's to guild members & more importantly to Academy Award members for consideration with Oscars. Screeners are also sent out to film critics for reviews. So, who is to know who actually illegally uploads to the Internet? "The Revenant" & "The Hateful Eight" are the most recent films to appear online before they even hit theaters. When news broke of those films hitting the internet. By the afternoon, 1 million downloads were tallied for both films. All this before the FBI began tracing the screener's uploaded from which Internet Provider.
"The Hateful Eight" & "The Revenant" open tomorrow Dec. 25, 2015. I'll you this. I will see them on the big screen where it is intended to be seen.
Roscoe Pond says goodbye to twin brother back home
It has been a week since my family buried my twin brother Mitchell Pond. It was a shock to me on his passing, but there it is. I cannot show his picture here because I'm in mourning. I have been off my Indian Reservation for many years & some don't know he was my twin brother. I missed his funeral & did not get to say goodbye in person. We did everything together as kids up until we turned 18 when I left home for school. I cannot begin to tell you how much I will miss him. He belongs to the Creator (God) now. Rest in Peace my dear twin brother. We will meet again & it will be a great reunion...,

News from Pendleton, Oregon. We all called him grandpa Clarence & still do even after he passed away back in 1987. Modern western "Desierto" opens in movie theaters March 4, 2016
Donald Trump may not like this new film about illegal Mexican immigrants who have families in the U.S. But, Oh Well..., The trailer below looks real good & I love any kind of western. This is a modern western thriller.
"Desierto" (Deserted) opens in Theaters March 4, 2016. It stars Gael GarcĂa Bernal, Jeffrey Dean Morgan & Alondra Hidalgo.

Billboard Magazine's top 20 pop songs of 1981
Well, what you don't see is Punk Rock which really gained in popularity after Disco music had died. Also, the singers who wrote & played their songs onstage was a dying art which ruled in the 1970's. There were 2 songs called, "9 to 5." I think Sheena Easton's song changed so it wouldn't be confused with Dolly Parton's hit from the movie "9 to 5." Sheena's changed to "Morning Train (Nine to Five)." Dolly had to go to court to prove she wrote her song & won the lawsuit. She is so Country that she brought her guitar & sang the song on the court steps after winning.
MTV was launched & every musician & band began recording videos. They just stood there and performed which looked Stiff. Music videos would evolve when Michael Jackson took control. That's when music executives began producing $1 million dollar videos for each song. Rick Springfield was a singer who worked on a soap opera. They used his popularity to cross over into pop music with of course "Jesse's Girl." They tried to make him into a movie star & put him in some terrible films.
Sadly, John Lennon of the Beatles was shot & killed in New York. His last album of songs were released & became big hits.
Sadly, John Lennon of the Beatles was shot & killed in New York. His last album of songs were released & became big hits.
I actually liked "Slow Hand" by The Pointer Sisters & of course, "Celebration" by Kool & the Gang.

Alcon Entertainment targeted by FBI over stolen 'The Hateful Eight" screener
An Alcon Entertainment Executive says he hasn't even seen the Screener for THE HATEFUL EIGHT. Screeners are sent out from each union guild for voting purposes. The FBI traced a screener stolen & uploaded on the internet to an Alcon office. The western movie opens Dec. 25, 2015.
Union members are complaining about watching screeners. Well, I was honored to be on the SAG nominating committee for TV with the SAG awards. I watched 70 plus TV shows & most were from screeners sent to me. I loved every minute of it & watched each DVD. Cable TV had the best written & best characters in that year 2010-11.
As far as screenings at theater's go. Nominating committees get first preference because they nominate. If you weren't on a committee, then you better get there early because it fills up fast. SAG always sent us emails on where & when to go. I jumped because I met other committee members at theaters for TV cast Q&A.

Deadline Hollywood interview with Burt Reynolds on his book memoir
Burt Reynold's was a big movie star back in the 1970's. Was it that long ago? His new book memoir is called, "But Enough About Me" & he talks about a lot of things he wrote in that memoir. My favorite film of his is "The Longest Yard" (1974). The remake in 2005 with Adam Sandler was not good in my opinion. They did it for the money. He says even he did it for the money. Great interview.

I give "MI-5" aka "Spooks: The Greater Good" 3-out-of-5 Stars
I enjoyed the TV show in-which this movie is based. It ran for 10 TV seasons in the U.K. It is now running on HULU. The TV show gave us the personal lives intertwined with their jobs of secret service operatives. The movie doesn't give us as much & I think that's what is missing. Character depth. The two main characters deal with a wife & the other a father, but only on the surface. They have to race against time to catch an escaped terrorist who wants to blow up London.
The last 20 minutes are fantastic as the mole inside MI-5 is exposed. I give it 3-out-of-5 stars ***

"The Hateful Eight" & "The Revenant" open X-mas Day 2015, but already leaked online
Piracy
is rampant on the Internet. THE HATEFUL EIGHT & THE REVENANT have
been uploaded to websites already. Both films will be released on
Christmas Day 2015 which is only a few days away.
Studios
try to protect their product. It all depends on who releases DVD copy screener's
for voting members to watch. All the Guild's try to get you into a
theater to watch their movies. SAG sends out DVD screener's only if the
film has already been released. If films are still in current release,
then they send you a preview DVD. Then, they tell you where to go to watch it in
theaters. (So you can vote for SAG awards). It all depends on, which Guild you are part of. People in the
entertainment industry just cannot wait to upload it illegally because
they want to be known as the first to do so. It makes them important
which they are not.
When
I was on the SAG-TV nominating committee. I was sent DVD screener's of
TV shows that had already aired in prime-time. I
was also invited to screenings to watch with other committee members. What I liked was getting a code number to screen Cable TV shows. I got all access to full season TV episodes. I loved it! Piracy
will continue to happen if a studios put their products in the wrong
hands.

INTERNAL AFFAIRS was a 2-hour DATELINE Friday Dec. 18, 2015
DATELINE on NBC. INTERNAL AFFAIRS. Josh Mankiewicz asked all the questions I would have asked Shannon. This, 5 years after she was convicted of shooting Denita in the head with a gun. They were both involved with Jermier who was going to marry Denita. He tried to break it off with Shannon. There was no DNA evidence & the gun was never found. Shannon tried to put the blame on him after she was arrested. She recorded him on her phone where he admitted to killing Denita. The man's voice didn't sound like Jermier at all. Shannon's defense didn't play those tapes, but the prosecution did. It was said that the Jury laughed when those tapes were played in court.
Shannon's family believe that Jermier killed Denita & he was going to kill Shannon too. She changed her story 3 times. She even claimed Jermier raped her while she was walking her dog at 3 a.m. in the morning. The rape kit revealed no evidence that he even touched her. What gets me is that - after sitting in jail for 5 years. Shannon is shaking, crying & playing the Victim to Josh Mankiewicz. She exhausted all of her appeals & will spend the rest of her life in prison.
Her parents still believe Shannon is innocent & they think that it was Jermier on those recorded tapes. Police never found a motive coming from him, but insane jealousy came from Shannon who was obsessed with Jermier. After all, she did move into a house in his neighborhood even after they broke up. (Yep, I watched this 3 times).

Alex Rios found guilty of beating 2 Navajo Indians to death at Albuquerque
Albuquerque, NM. -- I used to live in the area where both Navajo's were beaten to death back in 2014. There is still a candle vigil set up there, but the homeless no longer sleep in that area. Alex Rios was convicted of second degree murder. One teen involved made a plea deal to testify against Alex. The third teen is scheduled to go on trial in September of 2016. The defense of Alex has always claimed he only watched as the other teens, (15 & 16) beat the Navajo's to death. They were covered in blood except Alex, but all were drunk. A jury didn't believe the defense as he may spend multiple years in prison for 2nd degree murder. He was also found guilty of more than 20 charges. He will be sentenced in 2 months.
U.S. Box Office report for the Weekend of Dec. 18-20, 2015
Well, if you've been living under a rock & didn't know it. "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" opened in North America to a whopping $238 million at the box office. It has also gained $517 million at the Foreign box office. It's breaking records. I get a kick out of watching the fanatics dressing up as Star Wars characters. The "Century Rio 24" in Albuquerque asked fans not to dress up because of gun threats. So, I didn't see anything but people standing in line.

Foreign import "Kung Fu Killer" with action star Donnie Yen
Well, these days the Hong Kong action stars are being criticized for using too much CGI effects. Donnie Yen is the latest action hero who has made it to the United States. KUNG FU KILLER opened in 20 American cities last spring 2015 & grossed $129,000, but grabbed $10 million worldwide.
There are thousand's if not millions of Martial Arts/ Kung Fu action stars. I'm gonna watch this for Donnie Yen who happens to be very popular right now. He does his own stunts, but he hasn't made it big like Jackie Chan who was a master at performing his great stunts.

NBC "Dateline" a young female college student executed by gunshot
DATELINE on NBC. A riveting 2-hour episode called INTERNAL AFFAIRS. Unbelievable!!! A lovely young college student gunned down in front of her apartment. Her boyfriend & fiance was having an affair with a woman who looks very pretty on the surface. She is accused of the murder because she was obsessed with the boyfriend. Her DNA & the murder weapon was never found. I think she recorded those phone tapes if you listen to them closely. Anything to stay out of prison because her story changed three times.
I watched it twice & Josh Mankiewicz who reported on this did not believe the killer's family. (His look is priceless at one point & I laughed out loud). The parent's blamed the boyfriend all the way. The defense didn't play those tapes, but the prosecution did. The man on it doesn't sound like the boyfriend. It sounds like singer, Michael Jackson. The best TV episode this TV season.

"MI-5" from the UK is not "Mission Impossible 5" starring Tom Cruise
The "MI-5" action thriller got limited theatrical release in the U.S. on Dec. 4, 2015. It is known in other countries as, "Spooks: The greater good." It is based on the popular British TV series which ran for 10 TV seasons. The movie was released in 7 foreign countries during 2015 & is now on DVD & BluyRay. You can watch it streaming online at "iTunes" & "Amazon."
People are confusing the title with "Mission Impossible 5" starring Tom Cruise which came out last Summer 2015. Here is the synopsis for "MI-5" -- "When a terrorist escapes custody during a routine handover, Will
Holloway must team with disgraced MI5 Intelligence Chief Harry Pearce to
track him down before an imminent terrorist attack on London."
I'm a big fan of the TV series which is running on HULU right now. Below is the International Movie Trailer.
