INDEPENDENCE DAY: RESURGENCE opens today, Friday June 24, 2016 in U.S., theaters. It is the sequel of the original 1996 blockbuster film that starred Will Smith. His character has not returned for the sequel and was killed 11 years after the original story. It was reported that Smith wanted too much money. He does have a son though who will appear. The production climbed to $165 million.
The Sci-Fi movie was filmed at New Mexico and it has opened in a dozen theaters in Albuquerque alone, and in IMAX.
