'The Keepers' Father Joseph Maskell leaves U.S. as sexual accusations mount

THE KEEPERS on NET-FLIX. (Season 1 Episode 4). Father Joseph Maskell had been questioned and diagnosed by the Catholic Church clinic by 1994. He denied ever touching any girls at the Archbishop-Keough high school. He was transferred to another Church Parish with no charges brought against him. The accusations from former school girls reached 100 victims. There was no concrete evidence as the Catholic Church and police department ignored the accusations.

Father Joseph Maskell asked a cemetery caretaker to help bury boxes of documents in the grave yard. That was in 1990. There was no evidence of him and other priest’s sexually abusing teen girls. The district attorney had one side of the story from 100 women. Maskell never gave his side of the story, but only in his earlier denials. He was removed from the Parish Ministry by 1994 and he left the United States.

The late 1960’s and early 1970’s sexual abuse became the media focus against the Baltimore Catholic Church. Two women filed lawsuits against that church and Joseph Maskell. It became the 20-year-old "repressed" memories against the word of a priest. It was also the word of Jean Hargadon Wehner against Maskell’s denial in the murder of Sister Cathy Cesnik in 1969. There is no physical evidence on either side.

What happened to Father Maskell? Did the two victims win their lawsuit against the Catholic Church?
