'48 Hours' Goes back to 2002 murder of Christa Worthington

48 HOURS (CBS) was seen Saturday evening at 9/8 p.m. It aired at 8 p.m. (central time) on the Albuquerque TV station KRQE 13. Last night’s episode on Nov. 18, 2017 was called, “Murder on the Cape.” In the overnight TV ratings it garnered 3.30 million TV viewers overall. It reached 0.6 million TV viewers in the all-important 18 to 49 adult demographic. “Dateline” (NBC) grabbed 2.62 overall & 0.6 with adults. “Saturday Night College Football” (ABC) nabbed 3.39 overall & 1.0 with adults (8-11 p.m.).  

“48 Hours” is a news program that covers crime and murder in the United States. Last night's episode was reported and narrated by Susan Spencer. 

“Murder on the Cape.” Truro, Massachusetts 2002. Christa Worthington lived with her daughter in a house near the sea-side Cape Cod. She was beaten and stabbed to death in her hallway near the kitchen. Her daughter’s father was Tony Jackett with whom she had an affair. Her former boyfriend Tim Arnold found Christa dead and called 911 Emergency. Police looked at these past boyfriends as suspects. There was no arrest until 2005.  Christa’s house gardener Christopher McCowen was charged with her murder. It surprised everyone. It has been many years since Christa’s death and Christopher was granted a new trial.
