JAWS movie celebrates 45 years and still scares movies audiences

JAWS from UNIVERSAL PICTURES. It was based on the best-selling 1974 novel written by Peter Benchley. The movie would become a box office smash for 1975 and thrilled audiences. It grossed a massive $470 million around the world. The production budget climbed to $9 million and maybe more when director Steven Spielberg went over-budget and over schedule....

It premiered 45 years ago on June 5, 1975 after several enthusiastic movie previews. Universal opened the film on 450 theater screens and bought commercial ads on the three major TV networks (CBS-NBC-ABC). There was also the merchandise tie-ins for kids that flew off the store shelves all summer long. It would become known as the first summer blockbuster. Movie studios would create summer blockbusters every year after that. Spielberg never took part in the 3 "Jaws" sequels that never measured up to the first film.

Happy 45th Anniversary to JAWS.!!
