70th anniversary 'The African Queen' re-release in movie theaters July 18, 2021

THE AFRICAN QUEEN (1951). It starred screen legends Humphrey Bogart and Katherine Hepburn. It was also directed by John Huston.

Turner Classic Movies is celebrating the film's 70th anniversay. It will be re-released into select movie theaters across the U.S. -- July 18 and 21, 2021. Check your local listings. 

It was nominated with 4 Oscars and Humphrey Bogart won "Best Actor." Katherine Hepburn was nominated for "Best Actress" but lost to Vivien Leigh in "A Streetcar Named Desire." 

The production budget climbed to $1 million. It became a box office smash around the world with $10 million. (1951 ticket price for individual 0.47 cents).

The "Nation Film Registry" in the "Library of Congress" entered the movie into its' library (1994). Paramount Pictures owns the U.S. rights to the film. The studio digitally re-stored the film in 2009 from a lost technicolor print....
