Movie Flashback 'Code of Silence' 1985 with Chuck Norris

CODE OF SILENCE from ORION pictures (1985). The production budget climbed to $7 million and was a box office hit in the U.S. grabbing $48 million. (Movie Ticket Price was $3.55).

It starred martial artist action-star Chuck Norris who was popular throughout the 1980's. Film audiences flocked into theaters to watch his best "Kung-Fu" moves. Most of his films were big on action and less on story.

(During the 1980's. Action stars were born every other year and films were made around each "star." This includes movies made for VHS Home Video. Sly Stallone and Arnold Schwarzenegger were the two biggest Hollywood action stars).

"Code of Silence" was a big surprise to Norris fans and critics because he was a hard boiled Chicago police detective (Eddie Cusack). A drug "Sting" operation goes wrong as criminals get away under Eddie's watch. A teenage kid is shot by a cop and there is a cover up. Eddie doesn't sign a petition supporting this cop and is shunned by the police department. Eddie has to figure out the connection to this drug deal that went sideways.

Of course - Norris does some action fight scenes. It is limited though because the crime story is more important on the streets of Chicago. The film has a gritty feel of cops, drug dealers, police informants and the city itself.

This is the best acting performance from Chuck Norris who portrays a real police detective. It's just too bad that film audiences never saw more of his talent as an actor... Norris went back to action films and moved onto his long-running TV show, "Walker, Texas Ranger" on CBS (1993-2001).

"Code of Silence" looks fantastic on Blu-Ray. Check out the remastered Film Trailer below.
