KOAT 7 News 'Manslaughter Charge' dropped against Alec Baldwin

Here is what's going on with the latest news on the "Rust" western movie. It was partially filmed at Santa Fe, NM (2021). The Judge has dismissed the manslaughter charge against Alex Baldwin (7/12/2024). Prosecutors with-held evidence to Baldwin's Defense team. 

Earlier in court - The judge ruled that Baldwin's job as producer had nothing with the manslaughter charge.

"Rust" filed for the New Mexico Tax Incentives before production. It has been denied and will cost producers $1.6 million. 

During the 2021 filming. A prop gun went off accidentally and killed cinematographer Halyna Hutchins. That gun was held by Alec Baldwin. The movie shut down and was later moved to Montana.

The Western finished production and has yet to find a film distributor.
