7.4 million Facebook views after Jada Pinkett Smith announces her boycott of Oscars 2016

There is always controversy built up around the Oscars each year. 2016 will be no different & it started right after the Oscar nominations were announced last Thursday Jan. 14. No black actors or actresses were nominated in the acting categories. Jada Pinkett Smith chose the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday to announce she will boycott the Oscars this February 2016. That announcement on her Facebook page has grabbed a whopping 7.4 million views by Monday evening. Film director, Spike Lee will boycott too by not attending, nor watching the Oscar telecast.

This prompted the Academy President who is a black woman - Cheryl Boone Issacs - to issue a statement to the press. Remember, each category nominates their peers. Actors nominate actors just as Actresses nominate actresses. It is said that the Academy voters never watch every performance of a film & some just simply mark their ballots any-old-way. Also, the Academy has a short attention span. They nominate from September to December & never choose films from the other 10 months in the year.

There are so many who never even get nominated. While others who finally get nominated - never win.
