(2022 Movie Logo).MIKE'S MURDER from WARNER BROS. (1984). Director James Bridges was forced to re-cut and re-edit after preview audiences dis-liked the film. The story was originally shot "backwards" from ending to beginning. The production budget climbed to $6.3 million. It flopped at the U.S. box office and earned only $1 million. It wasn't released at the Foreign markets. The "Warner Home Archive Collection" released it on DVD in 2009.
I reviewed "Mike's Murder" here on this Blog a few years back. I watched it again for this recommendation for murder & mystery fans.
Betty Parrish (Debra Winger) portrays a bank-teller in Los Angeles. A few years back. She had a sexual one-night-stand with Mike who was a tennis instructor. She receives a phone call saying that Mike was murdered. Betty hardly knew him, but is curious about how he was killed.
She discovers that Mike was a drug dealer and it is a "world" she doesn't understand. This "world" is so big that it encompasses every corner of Los Angeles. Betty is not a professional investigator, but unearths some truths about Mike. He wanted to be a male "Chippendale" dancer and also had a gay male lover.
She traces his life through black and white pictures. Plus, VHS video camera footage that has become the rage for millions of Americans. VHS tapes revolutionize television, documentaries, interviews and for personal use inside of homes. Betty watches bits and pieces of Mike's life which isn't pretty.
I will not give anything away.... However - Betty's life is in danger when she touches this Los Angeles drug world. Who killed Mike?... How?... Why?

(NHL photo 2022.)The Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA) have not yet announced where their "Golden Globes" award show will be.... However - They did announce that there will be no red carpet and no celebrity presenters. Stay tuned....
NBC decided to cancel the 79th annual prime-time broadcast for 2022. The HFPA came under wide criticism in 2021 after internal organization problems. That included Diversity where only a few "black" journalists were part of the HFPA. "White" members reportedly looked down on those black members. Plus, diversity was not inclusive with the nominations over the past few decades. The other problems went from blatant racism to sexual harrassment.
The organization consists of journalists from around the world. They nominate and choose the winners.
The HFPA has changed their rules & regulations. Plus, added 22 minority journalists as members. Most of them are "black." Where are the Latino, Asian and Native American journalists...?
The organization has apologized and decided to move forward with the 2022 award show. Celebrities turned down the announcements of the 2021 nominees. Rapper "Snoop Dogg" was tapped to read off those nominees who even mis-pronounced celebrity names. Since the Golden Globes have no home for their award show. The nominations were announced by live stream on "YouTube" at an undisclosed location.
The HFPA may have a long way to go before recovery. The Golden Globes used to have high profile celebrities from movies and television. At the moment. The major networks and movie studios want nothing to do with the HFPA.

A successful female physchiatrist had just wrote a best selling novel. Her life looks like it's complete in a lot of ways. She feels however that there is something missing. She wants to go into a different world where she loses control. As a phsychiatrist. She controls her patients whose lives depend upon her help.
One of her patients, needs more help, than just a "talk" session. This patient has a gun and the phsychiatrist takes it to a man who will eventually control her life. He is obviously a con-man who convinces her that there is a bigger game outside of himself. She lets go of her inhibitions and enjoys this con-game lifestyle.
I will not give anything away.... But - Several gun shots go off and someone is killed. Who takes the bullet? Is this a real game in real life?... I saw this in a movie theater back in 1987. That ending just blew me away - so to speak. Check it out. You will not be disappointed.
