"This classic '48 Hours' episode last aired on 6/28/2014."

Classic Movie Flashback 'Tootsie' 1982 with Dustin Hoffman
TOOTSIE from COLUMBIA pictures (1982). It starred Dustin Hoffman and Jessica Lange. The production budget climbed to $21 million and grossed $241 million at the world-wide box office. It went onto become the 2nd highest grossing movie of that year. (Movie Ticket Price $2.94).
The story surrounds Michael (Hoffman) who is a difficult actor. No one wants to hire him. There is an opening for an older woman on a popular day time soap opera. Michael creates an actress named Dorothy and auditions for the role. He lands the part and Dorothy becomes a popular female character on the show.
I don't think the film could be made in 2024. The political correctness would kill the idea of a man dressing up in drag to portray a woman. All of the stereotypes could be an outrage from the LGBT community. (Despite the success of RuPaul's "Drag Race" which is a reality TV series competition).
"Tootsie" was a box office smash and earned 10 Oscar nominations including Best Picture and Best Actor for Hoffman. Jessica Lange won the Best Supporting actress Oscar. This kind of romantic comedy was a throw back to the 1940s.
Hoffman is fantastic as Dorothy. You forget about him under all of that make up. You believe in Dorothy as a true feminist.

Classic Movie Flashback 'Bachelor Party' 1984 with Tom Hanks
BACHELOR PARTY from 20th CENTURY FOX (1984). It starred an up-and-coming star named Tom Hanks. This comedy was green-lighted after the success of "Police Academy." The production budget climbed to $7 million and grossed a decent $34 million at the U.S. box office. (Movie Ticket Price $3.36).
It's a simple story. Rick (Hanks) is getting married and his buddies throw a bachelor party for him. His girlfriend Debbie belongs to a rich and snobbish family. They hate Rick... A plan is hatched for Debbie to have her own bachelorette party. Both of these parties end up at the same ritzy hotel.
This comedy could never be made in 2024 because of political correctness.
Tom Hanks was a rising movie star after making it in television (Busom Buddies). He really is a good comedian. I hadn't seen this movie since 1984 and I recently watched it on Blu-Ray. It stands up as a raunchy comedy for its' time. It had me laughing out loud. It isn't like the teen sex comedies that Hollywood was cranking out each year during the 1980's.
It has it's funny moments too. I still laugh hard at the two "hookers" who show up at the bachelorette party. It's by mistake. And... I think the hot dog scene is an old joke that was done during Hollywood parties in the 1950's.
If you remember the movie "Drive-In" theaters. "Bachelor Party" was shown all summer at those theaters across the U.S. It would go onto become a huge VHS Home Video rental too.

Podcast 'Unsolved Mysteries' episode 'Murder of an Undercover Cop'
UNSOLVED MYSTERIES on PODCAST. I've been re-listening to these episodes and they are all fascinating. The episode called, "Murder of an Undercover Cop" sounds like a Hollywood movie. But - it is a true story.
Police detective Jimmy Grimes was found dead inside a car at a parking lot (1996). His neck was broken in a military-style death move. He had been investigating a drug crime that may have reached the local police. Jimmy was undercover.
A grainy video was found where an unknown male figure gets out of Jimmy's car. It was right before he was killed. DNA was left behind by a possible suspect, but there is no word if it was tested.
It's a mystery and a compelling one.
Roscoe Pond E-Book 'The Gunshot Wound' at Amazon 2024
Hello everyone - "The Gunshot Wound" is a western movie screenplay I had written a few years back. I pitched it to producers with some interest, but no takers. I even tried to attach a known "actor" to the lead role. I then organized an "actor table read" to help with rewrites. It has evolved into an action western.
With this E-Book. I wanted to expand on the story and all of my characters. It turned into a good little western book. I made sure to make it easy to read through good formatting.
I am not planning a paperback nor hard back editions. It is too expensive. So.... my first Book will remain an E-Book which you can buy and download to all platforms including -- iPhone-iPad-Laptop-Computer. ($3.99). Readers can also review it over at Amazon.

Classic Movie Flashback 'Scarface' with Al Pacino 1983
SCARFACE from UNIVERSAL pictures (1983). This is a remake of the Black & White original (1932) that starred Paul Muni. Al Pacino was interested in developing it with producer Martin Bergman. Sidney Lumet was tapped to direct but was replaced by Brian DePalma. Oliver Stone was brought in to write it.
The gangster movie opened in December of 1983 to mixed reviews. It went on to make $45 million at the domestic box office. Plus, $20 million in Foreign territories. The production budget climbed to $23 million. Rumors made the budget climb to $37 million. (Movie ticket price $3.15 in 1983).
The Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA) gave the film an "X-Rating." Brian DePalma claimed that he cut the film several times for an R-Rating. The MPAA said there was too much violence, sex and foul language. DePalma released it anyway. (If you watch it in 2024. It is pretty tame).
The movie was released on VHS home video one year later (1984). It became a smash hit with rentals and a cult classic began. It has influenced Hip Hip/Rap music since its' release. It is considered one of the best gangster films ever made. Plus, one of Al Pacino's greatest characters.
There have been movie sequels started by several writers and directors. No productions will begin in the near future.
Below is the Blu-Ray Movie Trailer.

NBC.Classic Movie Flashback 'Fatal Attraction' 1987 with Michael Douglas
FATAL ATTRACTION from PARAMOUNT Pictures (1987). The production budget climbed to $14 million and grossed $157 million at the north American box office. It hit $163 million at the Foreign box office. The thriller would go onto to become the number one grossing movie worldwide at $320 million.
For 8 weeks - It stood at number #1 at the U.S. box office. Word-of-mouth made the film a popular smash and became the most talked about movie of that year.
The story surrounds a male lawyer who has a one-night stand with a successful hard working woman. She can't let go and begins to stalk him and his family. He tries to drop her but she claims that she is pregnant. It gets worse as she becomes a threatening presence with his family. She even breaks into his home and boils the pet rabbit. The other woman can't let go and becomes an absolute nightmare.
I was in college at the time and in my health science classes. The conversion turned to "Fatal" and the talks went deep with dating, marriage and couples. It scared men across the world and the film un-earthed real life "Fatal Attractions."
The movie spent 7 years in the making and was turned down be every major Hollywood studio (twice). When the producers found the right casting and a strong director. Everything fell into place.
"Fatal Attraction" received 6 Oscar nominations including Best Picture of the year. There was no sequel but the film spawned dozens of copy-cat thrillers over the next 10 years. None of them could reach the film's popularity and powerful reach. It is still a talked-about movie even today.
A recent TV series was developed but was cancelled after one season.
Below is the original 1987 movie trailer.
