'Holmes & Watson' tested badly by preview audiences & Sony tried to sell it to 'Netflix'
HOLMES & WATSON from SONY. It's always a bad sign when movies are not previewed by critics before it rolls out into movie theaters. Case-in-point with Sony's "Holmes & Watson" with John C. Reilly and Will Farrell. Critics thrashed it and film-goers have reportedly walked out of theaters. (They said so on "Twitter").
According to "Box Office Mojo" that tracks box office receipts. As of Sunday Dec. 30, 2018. "Holmes & Watson" has grabbed $19,826,408 million in North America. It has garnered $4,000,000 million at the Foreign box office. The world-wide total brings it up to $23,826,408 million. The production budget climbed to $42 million.
Sony had reportedly tried to sell it to the streaming giant "Netflix" who turned it down. All of this after "test" screenings received terrible scores. Sony just put it into theaters and it is being touted as the worst of 2018 & 2019. (I had no plans to see it and apparently, the trailer is funnier than the completed film).

'Sondra Locke' under-rated actress & film director dies at 74
The 1983 movie "Sudden Impact" was a continuation of the "Dirt Harry" franchise character played by Clint Eastwood. Harry Callahan was a cop who always did it his way. He said a catch phrase so popular that it was imitated throughout the 1980's. Harry said, "Go ahead. Make my day" which had made the film a box office smash.
Harry was investigating the murder of a man who used to be part of a gang. Sondra Locke (Jennifer Spencer) killed that man out of revenge. Him and his friends had raped her and her younger sister years before. Jennifer set out to knock everyone of them off. She was a smooth operator throughout and deathly beautiful. One of Locke's best performances in one of several Eastwood films, she appeared in.
(Warner Bros., photo. Sondra Locke as Jennifer Spencer in "Sudden Impact").
The CBS made-for-TV-movie "The Rosemary Clooney Story" 1982. It was based on the 1977 autobiography of Clooney's life, "This for Remembrance." Sondra Locke portrayed Clooney who was a popular 1950's singer and actress. Locke aged many years and went through a mental breakdown to emerge as a great singer of songs. A searing performance by Locke who had impressed the real Clooney. (Actor, George Clooney is Rosemary's nephew in real life). The TV movie is on DVD. Check it out.
(People Magazine photo. Sondra Locke made up as 1950's singer Rosemary Clooney who is on the right in 1982).
Sondra Locke turned to directing and by 1990 helmed a movie thriller called, "Impulse." It starred Theresa Russell (Lottie Mason) as an undercover cop who takes her job home with her one night. She witnesses a mob hit and scrambles to clear her name and save her job. The film earned rave reviews for its' direction by Locke and for Russell's performance. It stands up today as a really good thriller. Check it out if you can. -- RIP Sondra Locke.

Police detectives found security cameras showing several men packing a heavy trash bag over to a black car. This was early Sunday morning outside "Sutton Place." Who were these men? And was Joey inside that trash bag?

Democrat Kyrsten Sinema is declared winner of Arizona Senate seat 2018
Republican candidate Martha McCally just conceded to Democratic candidate Kyrsten Sinema as Arizona's new US Senator. Sinema climbed to 38,000 votes ahead of McSally on Monday Nov. 12, 2018. Sinema was behind on Election night Nov. 6, but after each day, has been adding thousand's of votes. There are still more than 150,000 ballots still coming in and most are from Maricopa county which favors Democrats.
Martha McSally was a fierce critic of "Obamacare" and wanted to kill it along with other Republicans. She's on audio claiming, "Let's F****G do this" by signing a petition to crush "Obamacare." She changed her tune during her election campaign 2018 with her run for Senator. She championed pre-existing health conditions that is a big part of "Obamacare."
This is another blow to the GOP as a Democrat flips another Senate seat. The "Blue Wave" for Democrats continues to wash over Republicans in the "House of Representatives" and the "Senate."
