'48 Hours' episode 'Whatever Happened to Mary Day' nabs 3.95 TV Ratings Overall

The 48 HOURS (CBS) episode called, "Whatever happened to Mary Day?" aired last Saturday night (5/2/2020) at 10/9 p.m. In the overnight TV ratings. It garnered 3.95 million TV viewers overall. It reached 0.4 million TV viewers in the all important 18 to 49 adult demographic. "Saturday Night Live " (NBC) grabbed 2.44 overall & 0.3 with adults (repeat). "American Idol" (ABC) nabbed 1.46 overall & 0.2 with adults (repeat).

"Whatever Happened to Mary Day?" It is 1981 and a teen girl named Mary Day disappears along the coast of California. The parents never reported her missing. Mary's sister Sherrie grew into adulthood and filed her own "missing persons" report. A detective was assigned to the cold case in 2002. He found out that Mary was physically abused by her dad who had extreme anger issues. The mother claimed that Mary always ran away and that what's she did in 1981.

The police detective believed that Mary was killed on the night she disappeared. He wanted to charge the father with murder. That is until a woman named "Phoenix Mary" was stopped by police in her car. She claimed to be Mary Day who vanished back in 1981....
