'Desierto' White American sniper guns down Mexicans crossing the US border

DESIERTO from STX- ENTERTAINMENT. According to "Box Office Mojo" that tracks box office receipts. "Desierto" opened in select theaters around the United States on Oct. 14, 2016. It has grabbed $2.2 million, but hasn't opened at the Foreign Box office. I pre-ordered it online over at YouTube which cost $14.99. The film will not open at Albuquerque, NM any time soon.

"Desierto." A truck load of Mexicans are forced to get out and walk to the U.S., Border. That truck broke down and cannot be fixed. A dozen illegal immigrants cross the fence into America as the hot sun blares down upon them. The desert is an unforgiving landscape for anyone walking on foot. A White American male drives his truck into the desert who claims to be a hunter. He has a "Confederate Flag" flying on his antenna. He also has a dog named, "tracker" that is trained to actually chase down Mexicans and kill them with his bare teeth. This white male has been doing this for years who believes that America is his home where no Mexican belongs.

The immigrants walk into an open desert area and each one is shot dead by this white male. All except four of them who fell behind earlier. They witness the shooting deaths from the top of a rocky hillside. "Tracker" sees them and the chase is on. Who will live and who will die? This is a modern day western which is violently brutal. If the humans don't kill each other. The desert will as it takes on a character of its' own.

'Scalped' TV Pilot may be filmed in New Mexico 2017

The "Albuquerque Free Press Weekly" announced in their newspaper, "New Mexico is slated to play host to the adaptation of the comic book series 'Scalped,' created by Jason Aaron. The production is expected to shoot in multiple locations beginning very early next year (2017)."

The Hollywood Reporter says, "Scalped - is described as a modern-day crime story set in the world of a Native American Indian reservation. It explores power, loyalty and spirituality in a community led by the ambitious chief Lincoln Red Crow as he reckons with Dashiell Bad Horse, who has returned home after years away from the reservation."

"Banshee's Doug Jung will pen the script and executive produce the DC Comics series originally written by Jason Aaron and illustrated by R.M. Guéra. DC Entertainment creative director Johns is attached to exec produce the drama, which hails from Warner Horizon Television. Insiders say WGN America is eyeing an all Native American cast."

"The 60-issue monthly comic was first published by DC imprint Vertigo in 2007 and was partly inspired by the 1975 arrest of Native American activist Leonard Peltier. Peltier was arrested for the slaying of two FBI agents in a reservation shootout."

'Guild Cinema' at Albuquerque to celebrate Kirk Douglas 100th Birthday

Screen legend, Kirk Douglas (my favorite actor), will approach his 100th birthday this Dec. 9, 2016.

The "Guild Cinema" at Albuquerque, NM will celebrate by showing two of his films directed by Stanley Kubrick. "Spartacus" will run from Dec. 9-11 each night at 6:30 p.m. "Paths of Glory" will run from Dec. 9-11 each evening at 4:30 p.m. Tickets are $8 General Admission / $5 Senior Citizens 60+ / Kids 12 & Under / Students with I.D. / $5 for matinees with first showing.

"Spartacus" (1960) was a huge box office hit that grabbed 4 Academy Awards. "Paths of Glory" (1957) made no money, but became a cult hit and was praised by critics. Kirk Douglas wrote a piece for the online newspaper "Huffington Post" with his 100th year on this earth. He talks about the current political climate compared to the past and everything he has seen. The written piece is called, "The Road Ahead." Something to think about as President-elect Trump becomes the next leader of the United States.

Feds give protesters at 'Standing Rock' until Dec. 5, 2016 to vacate

The federal government says they will arrest protesters after Dec. 5, 2016 for trespassing. They will also be prosecuted. Native activists claim they will stand and fight. The protests at North Dakota has grabbed the attention of celebrities and politicians including, Jane Fonda, Bernie Sanders, Mark Ruffalo, Robert Kennedy Jr., and Susan Sarandan. The world-wide press is reporting from the protest lines.

The $4 Billion "Dakota Access Pipeline" project began in 2014. It would transport oil from North Dakota to Illinois. That pipeline would be built under the Missouri River which is the main water supply for the "Standing Rock Sioux Tribe." Their concern is that if the pipeline breaks, it could damage the water and put tribal members in danger. President Obama stepped in and halted the building of the pipeline to find other solutions. However, the federal government intervened and the pipeline construction has continued. 140 Native American and non-native protesters have been arrested as the stand-off continues. The cost of police enforcement has risen to $15 million and a contingent of Native Veterans has been deployed to the protest site.

'48 Hours' A serial rapist was loose in the state of Colorado

"48 Hours" (CBS) was seen Saturday evening at 10/9 p.m. It aired at 9 p.m. (central time) in Albuquerque, NM on KRQE 13. The episode on Nov. 19, 2016 was called, "Hunted." In the overnight TV ratings it garnered 4.80 million TV viewers overall. It reached 0.8 million TV viewers in the all important 18 to 49 adult demographic. “Saturday night college football" (ABC) grabbed 3.90 overall & 1.1 with adults (8-11 p.m.). “SNL Vintage" (NBC) nabbed 3.09 overall & 0.8 with adults.

"48 Hours" is an investigative program that covers crime & murder in the United States. This episode was reported and narrated by Maureen Maher.

Hunted.” A 65-year-old woman living in Aurora, Colorado had no idea she was being stalked by a man she didn't know. He knew that she lived alone and one night attacked her. He raped her and took pictures of her naked body. He threatened her that if she told police. He would expose the photos on the internet. He cleaned up all traces of his DNA from her bedroom. His DNA was found on a stuffed teddy bear, but it didn't match anyone in the police database. Two years later and in the city of Golden, Colorado. A 29-year-old female was raped in the exact same scenario as the woman at Aurora. An unknown serial rapist was on the loose.

'13 Hours' The attack in Benghazi killed a U.S. Ambassador 2012

13 HOURS from PARAMOUNT. The film was released back on Jan. 15, 2016. According to "Box Office Mojo" that tracks box office receipts. It grabbed $52,853,219 in the U.S. It nabbed only $16,558,151 at the Foreign Box Office.

A U.S., Ambassador was going to visit Benghazi, Lyba on the anniversary of 9/11 back in 2012. The military believed that the home where the Ambassador was going to stay was open to an attack. He decided to stay there instead of a more secure place. That home was attacked at night and the Ambassador plus three others were killed. 6 soldiers scrambled to protect the compound as U.S., military took too long in their response. Benghazi does not have a U.S. Embassy. It was just an outpost for the U.S.

The movie is based on real life events. We know what happened going in. If the Ambassador chose to stay in a place with better security. He might still be alive today. The length of time it took for the U.S., Department and Intelligence to respond, was too long. The movie showed us that in detail. Hillary Clinton was Secretary-of-State in 2012 and she automatically took the blame for the Benghazi attack. The Republicans jumped on it and screamed "cover up" against the Democrats. That's why during the U.S., hearings, they asked for Clinton's emails, who used a private server. Thousands of those emails were recovered and only 900 were of Clinton talking about Benghazi.

During the 2016 Presidential campaign. Those emails and Benghazi were blown to epic proportions. It was all aimed at Hillary, "Lock her up" and "Killery." The FBI cleared her of any wrong-doing twice during the campaign. Benghazi might have cost Clinton the Presidency, but she garnered the popular vote in the general election. "13 Hours." Watch it for yourself and come to your own conclusions. It's a part of history now and so is the 2016 Presidential campaign.

“Elementary” stars, Jonny Lee Miller (Sherlock Holmes), Lucy Liu (Dr. Joan Watson),
Aidan Quinn (Captain Thomas Gregson) & Jon Michael Hill (Detective Marcus Bell).

Bang Bang Shoot Chute.” A man named Bennett jumped off a NYC high rise building with a parachute. A sniper shot him dead as he dropped from the sky. Bennett's parachute never opened. Sherlock believes the chute was sabotaged and found that Bennett was shot twice. Aturro, Mark and Bennett were extreme jumpers and documented those jumps with digital cameras. Aturro had died earlier in a freak jump. Mark and Bennett jumped off that building in memory of their comrade. Mark fled the scene after Bennett dropped to his death on the sidewalk.

Jackie Chan receives honorary Academy Award 'Oscar'

The man has made 200 films in 56 years and finally gets an Oscar for his work. I am a huge fan of Jackie Chan and I actually teared up listening to his Oscar speech. I have too many favorite movies of his. I enjoyed the "Rush Hour" films the most because of his great chemistry with Chris Tucker. He is the first and only Chinese filmmaker to receive such an honor (2016). Congratulations.

It is now Thursday Nov. 10, 2016 and the SAG-AFTRA union started the picket lines back on Oct. 21. This could go on for months if producers do not bend toward SAG-AFTRA's demands for better pay.
