Classic Movie Flashback 'Police Academy' from 1984

POLICE ACADEMY from WARNER BROS. (1984). The production budget climbed to $4.5 million. It grabbed $81.2 million in the U.S. and $68.6 million at the Foreign box office. The world-wide total reached $149.8 million. Warner Bros. Pictures made a huge profit of $35 million. It went onto become the 6th highest grossing film of 1984. (movie theater ticket prices was $3.36).

It gained a whole new audience on VHS Home Video Rentals. The financial gross has not been made public. Back in 1984. Movies landed on home video after it hit or missed in actual movie theaters. This of-course was long before the "Internet." Customers had to walk into a store like "Block-Buster Video" to buy and/or rent their favorite films. Video stores are now extinct.

"Police Academy" was so popular that it spawned 6 more sequels (1984-94). The very first movie was the most profitable and the funniest of the entire series.

Synopsis: The Mayor of an un-named large city calls on all police recruits. The Academy sees the next batch of "misfits" inept and worthless. One teacher decides to make life "Hell" for all of these recruits. So that they quit the Academy. It doesn't go as planned when training begins and the comedy ensues.
