SAG/AFTRA Message from New Mexico President - Talia Pura
Dear SAG-AFTRA Member,
SAG-AFTRA New Mexico Local."I hope this message finds you well as we enter into the holiday season. Today I want to share updates on our Local’s work, highlight important upcoming events and reflect on the resilience of our members during a challenging industry cycle."
"There’s no question that this has been a difficult year across the entertainment industry. Productions have been down nationwide, and the slowdown has impacted performers, crew, and creatives in New Mexico and beyond. Times like these remind us how essential our union is and how vital it is that we show up for one another."
"Even so, we’ve had reasons to celebrate. One of the brightest moments has been Pluribus, filmed right here in New Mexico, rising to become the No. 1 show on Apple TV+. Even more exciting, the series has a second season in the works, bringing continued opportunity and visibility to our local performers and our state’s production ecosystem. It’s a powerful reminder of the world-class work being created here."
In solidarity,
Talia Pura - President, SAG-AFTRA New Mexico Local
SAG/AFTRA President Message 'The Actor Awards' 2026
Dear SAG-AFTRA Member,
"On Friday, the union announced an important title change to our beloved award show presentation. Beginning with the upcoming 32nd annual ceremony on March 1, the program will be called, The Actor Awards presented by SAG-AFTRA."
"In the performing arts and in life, we go by many names. The title of the show that represents our members carries with it an important comment on the nature of identity, that of our show and that of our union on behalf of our members."
"Many do not know that our beautiful and iconic statuette, the award itself, has a name: The Actor®. The Actor statuette depicts a performer, an actor, posed to express the dignity, poise and skill that define our craft. It is meant to represent all performers. It is an emblem of humanity."
"For over three decades, every presenter, when announcing the recipient, says the famous words -- And The Actor goes to…."
"In a literal sense, this show has always been, The Actor Awards."
"Award shows are many things to many people. The Actor Awards are special because they are us. Our members, who work so hard and with such passion, delivering performances that have the power to transform our culture, deserve to be recognized by their peers for their excellence."
"It is also Actors voting for Actors. Our collective and profound understanding of performance, communicated exclusively by our members, powers this awards show."
"SAG-AFTRA is gratified to continue its unique relationship with Netflix as the streaming partner of the live event, and we are excited about this new chapter which is expected to give international audiences a clearer picture of what makes our show special. As a merged union, including our full name — SAG-AFTRA — accurately conveys to the public that the show is speaking for our entire union."
"I offer thanks and appreciation to everyone involved in progressing the show with this new name. To every member of our union, as far as I’m concerned, ‘The Actor’ represents all of us. When I received the statuette in 2004, it was one of the proudest moments of my life. It represented my mom and my family, it represented all of my colleagues on every project I’ve ever worked on — and it represented all of you."
"The 32nd Annual Actor Awards presented by SAG-AFTRA are about our community lifting our members up. It’s about the unique pride and respect that we have for ourselves and each other."
"The new name will come to mean whatever we want it to mean. To me, it means all of you."
In unity,
Sean Astin - President
-----------------------------
Dear SAG-AFTRA Member,
"We are excited to announce that beginning with the upcoming 32nd annual ceremony, the Screen Actors Guild Awards will be changing its name to better reflect its true spirit and unique position as the only industry honor given to actors, by actors."
"The new name, The Actor Awards presented by SAG-AFTRA, is inspired by both our iconic statuette, The Actor®, and the power of human performance."
"While there may be a new name, nothing about what makes this show special is changing. The Actor Awards remain exclusively voted on by SAG-AFTRA members. The categories remain the same, and the night remains ours as a gathering of actors honoring actors."
"With gratitude for every performer who helped build this legacy, and every artist who will continue it, we invite you to join us in this next chapter. Most importantly, we look forward to celebrating this year’s outstanding performances at The 32nd Annual Actor Awards presented by SAG-AFTRA on March 1, 2026 on Netflix."
In unity,
Duncan Crabtree-Ireland - National Executive Director

Roscoe Pond's 25 Top Picks of 'Film Noir' movies
Note from Roscoe Pond.... There is a full list of over 100 Film Noir movies from the 1940s-1950s-1960s. I've seen 100 of them and I have ranked my top 25. It was tough too because there are so many good films.
Film Noir is mainly Black & White movies consisting of murder, gangsters, cops, detectives, private eyes and Femme Fatales. All dealing in darkness and more darkness. It is a genre long gone in 2025. Except for a few color films.
I am a huge fan of Film Noir like I'm a fan of Westerns. I'll be adding 25 more favorite picks down the road.. RP

1944 "Double Indemnity." Starring Barbara Stanwyck and Fred MacMurray. This was considered one of the first Film Noir movies. It kicked off the genre that stretched into the late 1960s.Classic Podcast '48 Hours' episode 'Dark Voyage' 2007

CBS.REVIEW 'King Ivory' A police drama thriller 4-Out-Of-5 Stars*
KING IVORY distributed by ROADSIDE ATTRACTIONS (2025). This police thriller was released in limited US theaters on Nov. 14, 2025. It might go wider depending on how it does in attendance at movie theaters.
I went to see "King Ivory" here in Albuquerque at a 10pm showing.
There are many films focusing on drugs. This story targets the distribution and sale of Fentanyl which is called “King Ivory.” Two police officers join a task force to arrest and convict local city drug dealers.
Holt Lightfeather is played by the late Graham Greene who is serving a life sentence in prison. He is a Native drug lord who runs the illegal fentanyl distribution in the state of Oklahoma. He owns this territory with other Native dealers.
Lightfeather is seen very little throughout this movie. He is behind prison walls whose far reach controls other drug dealers. If and when they cross into his Oklahoma territory. He is a total menace.
The police task force plans on taking down any drug dealer connected to Lightfeather.
Fentanyl is now the drug of choice instead of cocaine and/or heroin. It is home-made and 50 times more potent than heroin. The film shows us how fentanyl is distributed on the streets. Including the sale to high school teens.
“King Ivory” is a solid police thriller. Since I’m Native/Indigenous. I was intrigued by the story surrounding the Natives of Oklahoma. Albeit drug dealers. Graham Greene was just plain evil as Lightfeather.
A side note. The big surprise in this film is a scene inside the men’s locker room. A male cop goes full frontal naked. Why? I don’t know. It is the year 2025 and I hear that frontal nudity is more common by men - with internet TV shows.
Check out “King Ivory” in theaters now. Especially for one of Graham Greene’s final performances before his death - earlier this year. THX. Roscoe Pond.

CBS.ALIEN 3 'The Legacy Cut' is a five-year Re-Edit from 'A34K'
ALIEN 3/THE LEGACY CUT from A34K (2025). I visited the website and they claim it took 5 years to re-edit and enhance to a 4K version. The promotion video looks good. But....
I enjoyed the "Assembly Cut" from 20th Century Fox. It added the 30 minutes that was dropped from the 1992 release. David Fincher's full vision as director makes sense with these added minutes.
I'm skeptical of this A34K for one reason. It's best to come from the movie studio who produced it. They have the millions of dollars to do it. These fan-made videos are not as professional nor experienced.
A34K has made visual enhancements from a fan made copy of "Alien 3." Those enhancements look "okay" in their promo videos. Check it out.
