48 HOURS on CBS. I had wondered what happened with the case against Kurt Sonnenfeld. He was the focus of a "48 Hours" episode back in 2016. Kurt's wife was shot and killed back in 2002. He fled to Argentina and married a new wife. Police in Colorado indicted him on murder charges and wanted Kurt extradited back to the U.S.
Kurt spent 7 months in prison until an Argentine supreme court voted in 2015 to send him back to the U.S. The current President, Cristina Kirchner, reversed the court's decision. Kurt Sonnenfeld would remain in Argentina and be granted political asylum. He claimed that the U.S., government wanted to quiet him over camera footage he captured about what "really" happened during the 9/11 attacks.
It looks like Kurt got away with the murder of his first wife. (Below is the full episode).
