DATELINE on NBC. Last Friday night's episode was called, "Wrong Turns" (10-4-2024). It was a 2-hour segment.
This is a TV recap.
I usually don't do this unless the episode makes me think hard about why people "Murder." What I love about "Dateline" is that it always unfolds like a mystery. The truth eventually is revealed by the end. Plus, when there is a "twist" in the story. It is revealed by the killer and/or killers.
This story starts out simple. A young woman marries a man. She sees his deep human flaws and begins divorce proceedings. She believes that their marriage was a mistake. She moves on and doesn't know that he will never move forward. Never.
She gets a new boyfriend and becomes pregnant. A plan is set in motion for her to be "harmed." That plan is not thought out very well and the innocent die because they are in harm's way.
"Dateline" focuses hard on the parents in this case. Their kids are caught up in turmoil. These parents suffer deeply and it is pure agony to watch. They ask themselves, "how is my child a part of this?"
This story is about money, greed and jealousy. The killer's web snatched up willing participants who didn't know the out-come which led to not one - but two murders.
There are many stories like these from "Dateline." Some murders are unsolved but each story involves parents who never see it coming. Who never asked for the suffering and grief they have to live with until they die. Their kids took some, "Wrong Turns" and it's devastating to watch.
I'll post the Podcast episode of "Wrong Turns" when it streams online.
