Classic Movie Flashback 'Ferris Bueller's Day Off' 1986 with Matthew Broderick

FERRIS BUELLER'S DAY OFF distributed by PARAMOUNT pictures. (1986). It was written and directed by John Hughes. He paid tribute to the town of Chicago. Matthew Broderick portrays Ferris Bueller who is a high school senior and a known "slacker."

The story is very simple. Ferris takes one day off from high school and runs around Chicago with his girlfriend. He ends up on a parade float "lip syncing" to the song "Twist and Shout." The school faculty and his friends wonder why this guy skips school.

The movie trick in the film is when Ferris breaks the 4th wall. He speaks straight into the camera at the audience. Ferris does it with a "wink" and it is endearing.

The production budget climbed to $5 million and grossed $70 million at the box office. It opened to rave reviews from critics and has become a cult classic.

I didn't watch it in a movie theater. My brother rented it on VHS Home Video many times. So, I was forced to watch it. What was enjoyable is the supporting characters. They were so funny. Especially the high school faculty monitoring Ferris when he skips one day.

Check it out on Bluray. It looks great as it captures Chicago in 1986.

Below is the movie trailer "Ferris Bueller's Day Off" 1986.

Western movie 'Rust' with Alec Baldwin will be in theaters on May 2, 2025

RUST from FAST FORWARD FILMS (2025). The Western was filmed at Santa Fe, New Mexico, California and Montana. The theatrical release date is May 2, 2025 and will be in 150 select movie theaters. It will also be released with "Video-On-Demand" on the same date.

It stars Alec Baldwin who also served as producer. The film trailer was recently released (see below).

The controversy continues over the on-set shooting by Baldwin. He shot a prop-gun that was filled with real bullets. Cinematographer (Halyna Hutchins) and the movie director (Joel Souza) were accidentally shot. Halyna later died from the gun-shot wound (2021). Joel had survived.

Alec Baldwin and the on-set "amorer" Hannah Gutierrez-Reed were both charged with manslaughter. The charges were dropped against Baldwin. Hannah was convicted who handled all prop guns for this production.

If the Western opens in Albuquerque, NM. I will walk into a theater and review it for my YouTube channel. If it doesn't open here. I will rent it with "Video-On-Demand" and review it.

The trailer is very good.

2025 SAG-AFTRA New Mexico Local - Agent Representation

 Dear SAG-AFTRA member -

SAG-AFTRA logo.

"With work about to pick up in our area, the New Mexico Local reminds you to keep your agency representation up to date with SAG-AFTRA. We know many of our members are looking for an agent at this time, so if you choose to hire an agent, we want to remind you that you are required under our rules to hire one which is franchised by the union."

"So, we are taking this time to remind you of the agents who are franchised and permitted to represent members in the New Mexico Local, and to let you know that we recently acquired two additions to our agent roster who are new to our area. You can visit the SAG-AFTRA website for a list with contact information."

The process involves these steps:

  • Log into your account
  • Select "Contracts and Industry Resources"
  • From the drop-down menu, select "Agents & Managers"
  • Scroll down the page and select "Franchised Agents"
  • Scroll down the next page to a box labeled "Select a Local" and choose New Mexico
  • Further down the page, select "All Franchised Agents" and click "Search"

Here is the list of agents. The two agencies new to the New Mexico area are identified by a check mark (✓).

  • Bankston Talent Agency, (210) 683-5089
  • ✓Crossbeam Talent, (770) 313-2739
  • DMe Talent Agency,  (505) 349-3563
  • Mitchell and Associates, (505) 262-9733

Even if you believe your data has been provided in the past — either by you or your agent — we recommend routinely reviewing your account to make sure the information we have on file for you remains accurate and current."

"This is important because when contracts expire, so does the agency listing on your profile. So from the previous page, select 'Update Agency/Representation Info,' click 'My Information' and select 'Agency Info.' If your agent is not listed or if you have changed representation, please click on 'Representation Update Form.'"

Stay busy, train every day, and we hope that you'll land that next role.

Happy Easter 2025 from Bugs Bunny

Classic Movie Flashback 'Private Benjamin' 1980 with Goldie Hawn

PRIVATE BENJAMIN distributed by WARNER BROS. (1980). It starred Goldie Hawn who also served as a producer on the film. The production budget climbed to $9.2 million and grossed $69 million at the box office. It was considered a smash and was a huge VHS Home Video Rental.

Note: Home video became popular by the 1980's. It revolutionized the entertainment industry from TV, movies, games to pornography. Americans stayed home to watch everything instead of going out. VHS recorders became a "boom" industry. Hollywood cashed-in with films and TV shows on videocassette. This was long before the Internet.

"Private Benjamin" showed life in the "Army" from a female perspective. After the movie was released. A lot of young women joined the Army forces.

The story is simple. Judith Benjamin (Goldie Hawn) is a spoiled blonde who gets married. Her husband dies on their wedding night and Judith falls into a depression. She wants to change her life and meets an Army recruiter. After she signs her name on the dotted line. Judith realizes her mistake but cannot quit. It changes her life and she grows into a strong independent woman.

"Private Benjamin" is considered a comedy because of Goldie Hawn. She is hilarious in this movie and it nabbed her an Oscar nomination as Best Actress. Eileen Brennan (Captain Doreen Lewis) was also nominated as Best Supporting Actress. Nancy Meyers, Charles Shyer and Harvey Miller were Oscar nominated for Best Screenplay.

The film spawned a TV series that lasted from 1981-1983. Eileen Brennan reprised her role for the series.

Classic Movie Flashback 'Mona Lisa' 1986 with Bob Hoskins

MONA LISA distributed by PALACE pictures (1986). This was director Neil Jordan's debut movie. It starred Bob Hoskins who earned an Oscar nomination as Best Actor for 1986. The production budget climbed to $2 million and nabbed $4.1 million in the United Kingdom (England). The movie was first released in the United States. The box office numbers have not been recorded.

The story is simple. On the streets of London. George (Hoskins) finished serving seven years in prison. His old boss Denny Mortwell (Michael Caine) gives him a job as a cab driver and body guard to a high class prostitute. Her name is Symone (Cathy Tyson). Denny wants information on Symone's clientele so that he can black mail them. George and Symone can't stand each other until they search for her close friend. They begin to fall in love as the streets of London become more dangerous.

"Mona Lisa" was not a Hollywood studio film. It came out of London and was so gritty and real. It was nothing like the movies that came out of the U.S. I walked into an independent movie theater to watch it. Bob Hoskins was so good too. He deserved that Oscar nomination.

Check it out on BluRay. You won't be disappointed.

Below is the 1986 original movie trailer. Producers don't make them like this anymore.

Horror 'Clown in a Cornfield' Has An Excellent Second Trailer

CLOWN IN A CORNFIELD from SHUDDER. In Theaters on May 9, 2025.

The first trailer was so good that it brought great mystery. The clown is called, "Frendo" who pops out of a box toy. He is so familiar that a town parade has floats that worship him. The teens like him a lot, but they don't know that "Frendo" is a real life killer clown.

That trailer didn't give it all away while most trailers do.

The second trailer was released and "Frendo" is revealed a little more. The story opens up with a legend surrounding him. He is a killer who carries a chainsaw and one teen dresses up like him to scare others. Through reflections of house mirrors and inside iPhone screens. "Frendo" watches these teens. He then becomes a reality.

What is so great about the second trailer is the joke showing a rotary dial phone from the 1980's. The teens do not know how to work this vintage phone. "What is this?!!" For someone who grew up in the 1980's. I laughed so hard at that scene.

The producers know how to do trailer promotions. There might be a third trailer coming before the May 9th release date. The horror audience still doesn't know who is dressed as "Frendo." The key to this story is why does this clown terrorize teens?

Cool second Trailer.
