If anyone knows me. I love a great Western movie. They have made a strong resurgence on the Internet. Some good and some very, very, bad. I've been renting several westerns with Video-On-Demand and wished I hadn't. Below are reviews of recent releases.
(2021. Synopsis: "After
looting a Native American burial site, a hunter unleashes the legendary
Skinwalker, a shape shifting demon, onto an unsuspecting world.").
It took forever to explain the "Skinwalker." It was confusing along side the other plots of the story. The cast acted like they were in a "western." I didn't care about a single character. The background scenery was modern too. The brand-new park benches threw me off. Grade - D.
(2021. Synopsis: "After
being injured at war, a civil war veteran returns home to Texas to find
he's now enlisted in a new battle; one for his life.").
What drives me crazy is the background extras wearing general store costumes. Plus, the bright clothes are clean pressed - in the west. The Civil War is a tough story to tell. Especially in the South. When the lead actor began to "preach" to the audience. I turned it off completely. Again, the cast acted like they were in a "western." Grade - F.
(2021. Synopsis: "Britt
MacMaster, a U.S. Marshal who rarely brings them back alive, returns
home from the trail to discover his 12-year-old son, Chad has been
kidnapped by outlaws Jed Blake and his gang.").
The western "cliche" dialogue is so bad it's laughable. The cast wore modern Levi jeans in the old west. Including the lead actor. The main outlaw even wore a general store gun-belt. The Native costumes looked like they came from a halloween store. Plus, when the natives come on-screen. The stereotypical Native Flute plays. There are so many things wrong with this. I don't have enough room to write. Grade - F.
