No one has been arrested from the 'Rust' on-set shooting that killed a cinematographer (Halyna Hutchins) and injured the director (Joel Souza). The hired armorer named, Hannah Gutierrez, is speaking out. She handled the film's weapons and props. She has "no idea" where the live ammo came from.
Here is what we know (Friday Oct. 29, 2021).
- Assistant director David Halls has hired a lawyer.
- On-set Armeror Hannah Gutierrez has also hired an attorney.
- A third warrant has been issued where filming took place.
- "Rust" is only the second film Hannah has been hired on.
- David Halls is not a member of the Directors Guild of America (DGA). He was an assistant director on several other productions.
- David has taken the “Mandatory DGA Safety Training” and “Covid-19 Prevention Training.”
- Through her lawyer, Hannah claims that any/or all weapons were locked inside a truck. She witnessed no one shooting those guns.
- The "Rust" western movie was under a DGA contract.
- Joel Souza is a DGA member.
