Death of 1950's TV 'Superman' George Reeves is still a mystery

It was the summer of 1959. George Reeves (actor) was found with a bullet wound to his head inside his bedroom. Police called it a suicide, but the crime scene said something else. The gun was on the floor between his feet with no finger prints on it. The bullet shell casing was under his body. There was also no gun powder residue on his hands or head. What happened? Did he kill himself? Was he shot first and then placed on his bed?

The TV series, “Superman” (1951-57) made Reeves a star who was idolized by kids all across America. That TV show was on hiatus and Reeves was said to begin shooting more episodes. He was in financial debt and was living with Lenore who was a tough party girl. He also broke off his relationship with Toni who lavished him with expensive gifts (car). She was married to Eddie, a former MGM studio executive. All of them have long since died.

The Reeves death has been covered over the years with books and documentaries. Tabloid TV news also spotlighted the supposed suicide/murder. There was even a movie made called, “Hollywoodland” which starred Ben Affleck as Superman. The TV show, “Unsolved Mysteries” covered it with host Robert Stack (1990's) and then with Dennis Farina (2008).

Below is “Unsolved Mysteries” with the TV “Superman” segment. There are other mystery stories along with this segment.
