THE BRAT PACK documentary streaming on HULU (June 13, 2024). I remember this because I was a mere 19-years-old in 1985. I was familiar with the original, "The Rat Pack" that was a Hollywood movie star group of the 1950's. They gathered together at the home of Humphrey Bogart and Lauren Bacall. Frank Sinatra, Spencer Tracy, Judy Garland, Kate Hepburn were in the group.
Sinatra would later be the leader of the "Pack" heading into the 1960's. Dean Martin, Peter Lawford, Sammy Davis Jr and Shirley Maclaine partied together in Las Vegas. It ended in 1962.
The New York magazine published the article of a new pack of Hollywood stars called, "The Brat Pack" 1985. Young actors and actresses starred in films together and later partied as friends. It consisted of Emilio Estevez, Anthony Michael Hall, Rob Lowe, Andrew McCarthy, Demi Moore, Judd Nelson, Molly Ringwald and Ally Sheedy.
The name, "The Brat Pack" was born and that label followed these young stars throughout the 1980's and 90's. Andrew McCarthy explores what actually happened when that article was published in 1985. He directs this new documentary and interviews those actors and actresses who were impacted by, "The Brat Pack" label.
