JACK REACHER with TOM CRUISE. The 2012 film based on the books written by Lee Child has become a fan favorite. The production budget was $60 million and cracked $80 million in the United States. It did better at the Foreign box office nabbing $138 million. Fans of the books weren't too happy with Cruise portraying Jack Reacher who stands 6'5" and is over 50-years-old. Cruise is roughly 5'7" and looks 35-years-old in the film. Nonetheless, the movie has found an audience on DVD-BluRay-plus the Internet.
Jack is a mystery man who shows up to help an army sniper who is framed after 5 people were picked off near a river bank. We all know it is a set-up before Jack even comes onto the scene. He soon figures it out and is "hell bent" on making things right. Lee Child makes a cameo appearance in the film as a cop. Robert Duvall makes an appearance with some good laughs. The film stays close to the book and the dialogue is great for Tom Cruise. He lets it roll off his tongue during intense moments.
The books are filled with cool action sequences and Tom Cruise lives up to them. He performs his own stunts. The second film "Jack Reacher: Never Go back" opens in October 2016. Cruise is great with sequels and he has this character down complete. The best way to watch the first movie is on BluRay. Check it out. You will not be disappointed.
