Short Review 'One Battle After Another' 4-Out-Of-4 Stars*

ONE BATTLE AFTER ANOTHER from WARNER BROS. (2025). It was produced, written and directed by Paul Thomas Anderson. It stars Leonardo DiCaprio and Sean Penn. The production budget climbed to $130 million (possibly $175 million). 

As of Friday Oct. 3, 2025. "One Battle" has grossed $34,926,146 million at the US box office. It grabbed $80 million+ at the Foreign box office.

I walked into a movie theater at Albuquerque to watch this.

The story is simple. Bob Ferguson (Leonardo DiCaprio) is part of the left-wing revolutionary group called, "French 75." Steven J. Lockjaw (Sean Penn) is a military officer who chases this group. He becomes obsessed with Perfidia Beverly Hills (Teyana Taylor) who is a black female leader of "French 75." She has sexual relations with both Bob and Steven, and gives birth to a girl named Willa Ferguson (Chase Infiniti).

16 years later. Steven has been promoted to Army Colonel. He uses his job illegally to track down Willa whom he believes to be his daughter. Bob ended up raising Willa after Perfidia walked out on both of them. The chase begins.

The scope of this film surrounds a revolutionary group against the US government. Starting in 1999. Three individuals are on opposite sides of the law. One is attracted to a revolutionary member of the female sex. Their consequences run deep spanning 16 years. The in-depth border crossings from Mexico into the US is fascinating to watch. I never knew about the underground immigrants. It is also connected to the freedom fighters who never stop in each generation.

Leonardo DiCaprio and Sean Penn give outstanding performances. Could they receive Oscar nominations for their work? I hope so. Check it out if you can....

Podcast 'Dateline' Series 'Deadly Engagement' Episode Six

Dateline says, "Former lovers are reunited in court as Denita Smith’s accused killer goes to trial." 

Note: I listened to the whole thing. I also found the original 2-hour episode "Internal Affairs." All I'm going to say is. Shannon was "free" until she opened her mouth. There was weak circumstantial evidence against her too. She also could've taken a "deal" and didn't. She totally lied to her family who believed her every word.

MUZZLE: CITY OF WOLVES (2025). This is a sequel to the 2023 film, "Muzzle" which also stars Aaron Eckhart. It made only $7,000 at the box office and received mixed reviews. 

I have to watch "Muzzle" before I see "City of Wolves."
