It is being reported that Ben Affleck (Batman, Argo) will direct and star in a remake of "Witness for the Prosecution." The 1957 movie was directed by Billy Wilder and starred Tyrone Power, Marlene Dietrich and Charles Laughton. The production was made for $3 million and grossed a hefty $9 million at the time. It was also a critical success and went onto grab 6 Oscar Nominations.
It is based on an Agatha Christie novel and surrounds the murder of an elderly lady who left her estate to a handsome playboy (Tyrone Power). The courtroom drama has several twists and turns only Christie can write. It's a classic film and it will be yet another remake coming out of Hollywood. (Just my opinion. I would cast Cate Blanchett in the Dietrich role).
