Mystery still surrounds death of 'Just Got Paid' singer Johnny Kemp

Johnny Kemp's dead body was found off the coast of Montego Bay, Jamaica on April 16, 2015. The “New Jack Swing” songwriter and singer was 55-years-old. His greatest hit song was “Just Got Paid” (1988) that climbed to number #1 on the R&B charts. It was also a top ten single on Billboard Magazine's pop single's chart. “Just Got Paid” was remade by the boy band group “NSYNC” in 2000.

It is still unclear what happened to Kemp two years since his death (2017). Early police reports were later dismissed that had Johnny hitting his head and falling into the water. He also didn't fall off a cruise ship. It has also been confirmed that Kemp did not board a ship at any time. He was scheduled to perform during the “Joyner Foundation” charity event on the “Fantastic Voyage” cruise. His untimely death remains a mystery and there was no indication of foul play.

“Just Got Paid” will always remain a classic Dance plus R&B hit song. It made the Summer of 1988 so much fun. "Rest in Peace" Mr. Kemp...,
