'48 Hours' Male mortician shoots elderly lady in the back 4 times

"48 Hours" (CBS) can be seen each Saturday evening at 10/9 p.m. It aired at 9 p.m. (central time) in Albuquerque, NM on KRQE 13. Last night's episode on Oct. 1, 2016 was called, "The mortician, the murder, the movie." In the overnight TV ratings it garnered 4.88 million TV viewers overall. It reached 0.8 million TV viewers in the all important 18 to 49 adult demographic. “Saturday night college football" (ABC) grabbed 9.02 overall & 3.1 with adults (8-11 p.m.). “Saturday Night Live" (NBC) nabbed 3.27 overall & 0.8 with adults (repeat).

"48 Hours" is an investigative program that covers crime & murder in the United States. Last night's episode was reported and narrated by Peter Van Sant.

“The mortician, the murder, the movie.” A mortician named Bernie Tiede became friends with an elderly lady named Marjorie Nugent. She came from a family of money and that money was in the millions. Her family says she was a loving person, but her neighbors called her the meanest woman in town. Bernie spent 3.8 million of Marjorie's money. He also shot her in the back four times which killed her. He then, put her body inside a freezer.

Jack Black portrayed Bernie in a 2011 motion picture. Shirley Maclaine played Marjorie. Jack spent time with Bernie as research for his acting role. He believes Bernie didn't murder Marjorie as pre-meditation, but in an act of passion. Jack also believed Bernie served his time and should be released from prison. Marjorie's family thinks he should stay behind bars.
