SAG-AFTRA President message on California wildfires

(SAG-AFTRA logo).

Dear Roscoe,

The images of cities awash in an orange glow and the West Coast under a haze of smoke are alarming.

As you read this, there are more than 100 active wildfires throughout the West, and the National Interagency Fire Center is reporting 4.5 million acres of land have burned across 12 states. Many have evacuated their homes, others are reported missing and some have lost their lives. Our gratitude goes out to the nearly 28,000 firefighters and first responders on the front lines.

If you are impacted by this national disaster, the SAG-AFTRA Foundation and the SAG-AFTRA Motion Picture Players Welfare Fund are providing emergency relief to eligible members and their families through their Disaster Relief Fund. Members may also be eligible for assistance from The Actors Fund.

If you need help, please ask. If you can help, please consider a donation to the Disaster Relief Fund to help others in need.

Our thoughts are with those impacted by these wildfires. Please stay safe, and thank you for looking out for your union brothers and sisters.

Strength in unity,

Gabrielle Carteris

SAG-AFTRA President
