The drama continues to unfold in the shooting death of Halyna Hutchins on the western film set "Rust" (October 2021). Alec Baldwin serves as producer and lead actor in the movie. It was immediately shut down after the gun shooting at Santa Fe, NM.
Alec has been charged with involuntary manslaughter after a loaded gun went off killing Hutchins. She was the film's cinematographer. The western resumes filming at Montana in the spring of 2023.
Andrea Reed was tapped as a special prosecutor in the case against Baldwin. She has now stepped down in a press release announcement from the Santa Fe District Attorney, Mary Carmack-Altwies. A preliminary hearing begins on May 3, 2023.
Alec Baldwin faces 18 months in prison if found guilty of the involuntary manslaughter charge. Plus, a $5,000 fine.
