HEARTS OF DARKNESS: A FILMMAKER'S APOCALYPSE distributed by TRITON pictures (1991). After its' release 44 years ago. The documentary grabbed $1,318,849 million at the box office.
Film audiences got a behind-the-scenes look in the making of "Apocalypse Now" (1979). It was directed by Frances Ford Coppola. He also directed "The Godfather" (1972).
His wife Eleanor Coppola had complete access without her husband knowing. She recorded audio and video from the very troubled movie-set. It truly is fascinating to watch for anyone who loves movies.
I walked into an independent movie theater to see it (1991).
Below is the Studio Canal re-release Trailer for 2025.
Below is a VHS Home Video copy review from "Siskel & Ebert." They were famous critics before the Internet. (There is a blur throughout this review). Gene Siskel chose "Hearts of Darkness" as his top movie of 1991.
