Sci-Fi Movie 'Alien: Resurrection' has Ellen Ripley as a Clone 1997

ALIEN: RESURRECTION from 20TH CENTURY FOX (1997). This 3rd sequel was directed by French filmmaker Jean-Pierre Jeunet. It starred Sigourney Weaver who reprises her role as Ellen Ripley. She is cloned back to life 200 years later.

The production budget climbed to $70 million. It nabbed $47 million in north America.  It was more popular at the Foreign box office taking in $113 million. The world-wide gross reached $161 million. This is considered the lowest gross in the movie franchise. It would also be the last film starring Sigourney Weaver as Ellen Ripley.

A military group "clones" Ripley and extracts the mother queen (Alien) from her chest. A group of mercenaries bring humans to this military facility to be used as "hosts" to breed Aliens. Ripley knows a little about her past but is not human. She is strong and her body can sense the Aliens. The military doctors lose control of several Alien beasts who escape their confinement. The space-ship automatically heads toward earth. Ripley and the mercenaries race to escape the remaining Aliens.

Sigourney Weaver gives a sensual performance as this sexy clone. She has great one liners and humor is spread out in the movie. The French director brought an "artsy" atmosphere into every scene. I believe that's why the movie was popular in Europe. As a huge fan of the franchise. I couldn't wait for the film to premiere. Especially after watching the excellent movie trailers.

The "Alien" series had ended, but it was a boom of money, for 20th Century Fox. Fans have always wanted Ellen Ripley to return. Sigourney Weaver had recently read a 50-page rough draft screenplay. It was written by director Walter Hill. She likes where Ripley is now in "space." Fans on the Internet are excited by this news and so am I.... Wahoo...!!
