ALICE on CBS (1976-1985). Linda Lavin starred on the TV sitcom for 9 seasons. It played in TV syndication every afternoon on a Portland, Oregon station. Usually in-between game shows. That was the late 1970's and it was so much fun. My favorite character was "Flo" (Polly Holliday) whose popular catchphrase was, "Kiss my Grits.!!"
There were only three TV networks back then (NBC-CBS-ABC). Just my opinion - "Alice" grabbed a larger audience when it went into TV syndication. Independent stations across the US played re-runs all year round and in every year. It had a lasting effect.
Linda Lavin moved on from "Alice" and won a Broadway Tony award. She passed away on Dec. 29, 2024. RIP....
