PRIMATE from PARAMOUNT pictures (2026). The production budget climbed to $21 million. As of Sunday Jan. 18, 2026. It has grossed $19,621,000 (million) in North America. It has grabbed $23 (million) at the world-wide box office.
Movie studios always dump films in the month of January. Why? Because they believe the movie will not make any money.
"Primate" is different because of the preview audiences. They had given this slasher movie a 93 percent score at the "rotten tomatoes" website. Paramount listened and used their advertisement campaign with these preview audiences.
The story is simple. A pet chimpanzee (Ben) is bitten by another animal. Ben gets rabies and goes on a killing rampage. College kids are terrorized and killed.
What is great about "Primate." There is no CGI in this movie. A "little-person" actor is inside a monkey suit. That made it so real and scary. (I walked into a movie theater to see this).
After 10 days. "Primate" has broken "even" with its' production budget. Plus, it looks like this is a word-of-mouth-movie. (I actually told friends and family to see this).
Go and see this is a movie theater.
Below is my short review at YouTube.
