Dear Roscoe (SAG-AFTRA) member,
"Spring has brought a renewed sense of energy and connection across our New Mexico community, and I’m excited to share what is ahead."
"Our Conservatory programs continue to shine as a cornerstone of member engagement and professional growth. We recently hosted an ask-me-anything-style event with casting directors Jennifer Schwalenberg and Angelique Midthunder. The duo offered candid insight into the casting process, audition expectations and how performers can best position themselves in today’s evolving industry. The conversation was dynamic and, most importantly, deeply rooted in the realities of working right here in New Mexico. Thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make it such a success."
"We’re continuing that momentum with our next Conservatory event on Saturday, May 2, featuring renowned social media strategist Heidi Dean. Heidi will guide members through building a compelling online presence that adds value to your career. In a time when visibility and authenticity matter more than ever, this is an opportunity not to miss."
"And I’m especially proud to share a significant milestone. For the first time ever, the SAG-AFTRA New Mexico Local will participate in the Albuquerque Pride Parade. This is a meaningful step forward in showing up for our community, celebrating inclusion and affirming that our union stands for dignity, diversity, and belonging on set and beyond."
"On the organizing front, our team will be present at the Gallup Film Festival on Thursday, May 7. This continues our outreach and advocacy work across the state. Festivals like these matter, as they offer opportunities to listen and learn from diverse experiences."
"We’re also making space for connection this month in Albuquerque. There is an upcoming coffee networking event at La La’s on Sunday, April 19, at 10 a.m. This is a chance to gather, meet fellow members and strengthen the relationships that make our local so vibrant."
"Be sure to join us at any of these events by signing up here: sagaftra.org/new-mexico-local-events."
"Thank you for your continued engagement, your artistry and your commitment to one another."
In solidarity,
Talia Pura
New Mexico Local President
