CLIFF-HANGER from TRI-STAR pictures (1993). It starred Sly Stallone and was a box office smash nabbing $255 million worldwide. There was a sequel with Stallone called, "Cliffhanger 2: The Dam" (1994). It was shelved. He remained connected to the next sequel until 2024. That's when the reboot had cast a female lead (Lily James).
Here's the quick lowdown. The reboot of "Cliffhanger" premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival 2025. Row K-Entertainment bought the rights and scheduled a release for August of 2026. Row-K folded and Vertical Entertainment bought it for $7 million (reportedly). "Cliffhanger" is scheduled for a Spring 2027 release.
The story is simple. The son of a billionaire joins an excursion at a luxury mountain resort. A group of men kidnapped this son. Naomi (Lily James), her dad and sister are with this group. Naomi is a mountain climber who decides to save her family.
