Judge re-opens 1999 murder case from popular SERIAL podcast

SERIAL Podcast (12 Episodes/Audio) 2014. Journalist Sarah Koenig uncovers both sides of the 1999 murder of Hae Min Lee who was the ex-girlfriend of Adnan Syed. He was convicted & sentenced to life in prison. Adnan is now 35 years old & still claims his innocence. 5-plus million listeners tuned into SERIAL & fans are still dissecting the case that has so many twists, turns & interesting characters. Even celebrities & real life lawyers spoke up about the murder.

Adnan has a witness who claims she saw him in the school library when Hae Min Lee was killed. That witness came forward but was never called by Adnan's lawyer at trial. The SERIAL podcast was so popular that Adnan was granted a new trial. A judge has now re-opened Lee's murder case.

Personally, I don't think Adnan had a fair trial with not enough evidence to convict him. I think he knew what happened to Hae Min Lee though. He was an accessory to murder because his so-called friend Jay had killed her.

"Dateline" NBC has a cocktail watress killed in "Under a Full Moon"

DATELINE on NBC. Friday night's episode on Nov. 6, 2015 was called UNDER A FULL MOON. A blonde & beautiful cocktail waitress is last seen on security camera clocking out at 2 p.m. She works at THE PALMS casino at Las Vegas. Right when she enters her town house, she is beaten to death by a homeless man who knows her husband. 

The question is can a good, caring & hard working man change into someone who hires a man to kill?

VERA on ITV is a stylish crime drama starring Brenda Blethyn

VERA is now in its' 5th TV season on ITV in the United Kingdom. Detective Chief Inspector (DCI) Vera Stanhope (Brenda Blethyn) investigates homicide in Northumberland. Her right hand man & surrogate son is Detective Sergeant (DS) Joe Ashworth (David Leon). He left the TV show after 4 TV seasons. 

I've been binge watching over at HULU. It is a stylish crime drama focusing on Vera who is obsessed with her job. It is based on the crime novels by Ann Cleeves & it shows because of the deep & rich characters. Each episode clocks in around 1 hour & 40 minutes & there are 4 episodes in a TV season.

You will "Never" figure out who the killer is in each episode. Never..., You can only watch Vera figure it out for you & she is a very good detective. I am stumped in each episode. I'm watching Season 3 right now over at HULU. Season 4 & 5 are airing on your local PBS station. (KCET in Albuquerque).

CBS "Hawaii Five-0" Steve & Lynn find trouble on a deserted island

HAWAII FIVE-0 (Season 6, Episode 7). Steve goes on a fun date with a blonde named Lynn. They go snorkeling in the ocean off the northwestern islands & run into a fugitive from the law. Lynn looks a little like Catherine & Steve is trying to forget her, but is still in love. Catherine left him again a few months ago. He said he wasn't going to wait for her anymore.

James Bond in SPECTRE nabs $5.25 Million on Thursday night screenings

SPECTRE opens today on Friday Nov. 6, 2015. It wouldn't be Hollywood without comparing the new Bond film with the old Bond film. Critics estimate that SPECTRE 2015 will not reach SKYFALL 2012 box office numbers on opening weekend. It looks to be a big weekend for SPECTRE though. Bring on the Bond Women...,

"Elementary" CBS has Sherlock & Watson being let go as consultants with NYPD

ELEMENTARY on CBS (Season 4, Episode 1). The Fall 2015 premiere was called THE PAST IS PARENT. Did you watch it? I thought it was very good because the whole episode concentrated on Sherlock & Watson as a team. That's why we tune into watch. They have chemistry.

Sherlock did fall off-the-wagon & snorted some Heroin during last spring's TV season Finale. He was held hostage who later beat up his captor. The NYPD chief of police let go of Sherlock & Watson as consultants because of what Sherlock did. His father decided to come to New York to try & help but Sherlock cannot stand him. 

The FBI tells Sherlock that him & Watson might be a risk as consultants. They do however give information to Sherlock because he is a good detective. This TV season looks to be very good.

SAG-AFTRA members get invitations to film & TV screenings

All paid up SAG-AFTRA union members are beginning the get invitations to free movie screenings. (I have received 12 invites so far in my email box). The reason is for the upcoming SAG Awards 2016. All paid up members get to vote for their favorite acting performances in Films & on TV. I served on the TV nominating committee back in 2011 & it was fun. I watched over 70 TV dramas & comedies. All SAG-AFTRA members have to pay their Fall 2015 dues by Dec. 1, 2015 in order to vote for the 2016 SAG Awards.

It is Native American Heritage Month 2015. When you get a chance. Please visit the Indian Pueblo Cultural Center when you come to Albuquerque, NM. They have these large & round Indian Tacos that taste great. The place always rocks with local bands on the weekends. I enjoy the traditional dances a lot too.

"The Hateful 8" new trailer has been released & it is real good

THE HATEFUL 8 opens in US theaters Dec. 25, 2015 & will go into wide release on Jan. 8, 2016. Director Quentin Tarantino is getting some backlash from police officers in several major US cities because he protested police brutality. He made statements & isn't backing down. Controversy has always followed movies & when it engulfs the film heading into movie theaters. It will make money no matter what. Police officers may not see THE HATEFUL 8, but I will because I love Westerns. Let's go...,

NCAA basketball will pre-empt "48 Hours" on Nov. 7, 2015 at 10 p.m.

48 HOURS will not air an episode this Saturday Nov. 7, 2015. NCAA basketball will air instead. 48 HOURS will return Nov. 14, 2015 with a new episode beginning at a special time 8/7 p.m. Check your local listings. It will air in Albuquerque, NM at 7 p.m. (central time) on local CBS station KRQE 13.

"The Mysteries of Laura" NBC has Jake & Laura investigating a pregnant woman's murder

THE MYSTERIES OF LAURA (Season 2, episode 7). THE MYSTERY OF THE MATERNAL INSTINCT. It goes much deeper than just the murder of a pregnant woman. She is smuggled into the country from Nigeria carrying diamonds or money by rich, rich individuals. This was a good episode.

Friday Nov. 5, 2015 has an all new "Dateline" called "Under a Full Moon"

DATELINE on NBC. Keith Morrison reports on the murder of a beautiful Las Vegas waitress who worked at the Palms Casino, "Under a Full Moon." If this sounds familiar, well it should, because 48 HOURS just ran their investigation on this same story a few weeks ago. The blonde cocktail waitress was bludgeoned to death with a hammer inside her home.

"Elementary" on CBS premiere's Thursday night Nov. 5, 2015

ELEMENTARY. Last Spring's TV Season Finale had Sherlock on the brink of a possible drug binge after falling off the wagon. He may be charged with attempted murder of the man who used to sell him drugs years before. It was a test to see if Sherlock would go back down into his addictions. 

The 2015 CBS Fall TV season premiere is Thursday night Nov. 5, 2015 at 10 p.m. The preview promo shows us that Sherlock might be going to jail & who will lose his consulting job with the NYPD. Him & Joan Watson look like they're heading over to consult with the FBI. That will be interesting. Also, Sherlock's father is coming to New York & it will get more interesting.

"The X-Files" on FOX is coming in 2016 with TV Mini-series

All I can say is that "I still believe." The official trailer for THE X-FILES shows us the tried & true couple who are seeking only the truth. Mulder & Scully are coming back & it looks exciting. I really liked the first movie back in 1998 & thought the TV series was perfect for the big screen. I wish there were movies made for IMAX theaters. That would be way cool, but I'll settle for a TV mini-series.

I'm not sure what the big deal is with Native American Heritage month. I mean, I'm native everyday of my life. I found this 1990 Mazda commercial over at YouTube. It's called the "Mazda Navajo" & I think they're still manufacturing it in 2015. It's time to make a new commercial representing Natives of the American Southwest.

"Trumbo" with Bryan Cranston tackles dark period in Hollywood history

TRUMBO will be in limited theatrical release on Nov. 6, 2015. Dalton Trumbo was a screenwriter who was Blacklisted in Hollywood when he wouldn't discuss his Communist political beliefs. The House Committee on Un-American Activities (HUAC) went on a witch hunt from 1947 to 1960 to weed out those in Hollywood who were Communist or connected to those practicing Communism. Trumbo (Bryan Cranston) wrote hit movies under a different name. 

The "red scare" ruined careers & personal lives in Hollywood. I think I've read every Autobiography or Biography of Film Stars who lived in that era of Movie-making. Screenwriters, actors, actresses & directors became prime targets. Trumbo worked in secret & was considered one the best screenwriters who ever lived. Kirk Douglas (Dean O'Gorman) hired Trumbo to write the Blockbuster Epic "Spartacus." Douglas decided to put Trumbo's real name in the film credits & helped break the Blacklist.

John Wayne, Edward G. Robinson & film director Otto Preminger are portrayed in this film. So is gossip columnist Hedda Hopper (Helen Mirren) who had a major influence with her millions of readers. Kirk Douglas who will be 99-years-old soon, screened the film & approved of it. Remember, Douglas was the biggest movie star of the 1950's. I think everyone should research this ugly time in Hollywood because it was all about fear.

SPECTRE opens with $80 million at the Foreign Box Office 2015

It has been reported that SPECTRE will be Daniel Craig's final appearance as 007 James Bond. Who will be the next Bond? The new thriller has opened big at the Foreign box office taking in $80.4 million dollars so far. It has become the biggest opening movie ever in the U.K. by surpassing the last "Harry Potter" film. SPECTRE opens in the U.S. on Friday Nov. 6, 2015. It is expected to gross another $80 million over its' first weekend. The production budget has risen to $250 million. I'm sure it will break even while running over the Holidays.

"Netflix" picks up "Longmire" for Season 5 & there will be more great story lines

LONGMIRE has been picked for a 5th TV season. The 4th TV season was definitely the best written so far in my opinion. It had it all, revenge, murder, old west shootouts & a new love interest for Walt Longmire. It also had justice for the Cheyenne Indian victims when the law wouldn't work on or off the Reservation. Talk about big issues & they were tackled by some great writers. Season 5 just might have just as good or better story lines. I'm looking forward to it. - Wahoo!

"The Bugs Bunny Defense" is absurd but the first jury believed it was an accident

Linda Duffey called it an accident after shooting her husband to death with a revolver gun. He said, "No more Buwwets" just like Elmer Fudd says to Bugs Bunny in a cartoon. Linda then fans that revolver like a Western movie & kills her husband. 

The first trial had a Hung-Jury & believed Linda's story. The judge declared a mistrial. This was 7 years after she shot her husband. The second trial never introduced the cartoon defense. Linda was convicted of 2nd degree murder. It all came down to the revolver & that second gunshot. Patrick Duffey was raised with guns & he always emptied every gun before he went to bed. Linda practiced shooting revolvers with him & she knew how to shoot.

I agree with the gun ballistics expert. The first gunshot was an accident, but the second gunshot was Murder. Linda didn't use a single action revolver where you can fan it second after second. She used a double action revolver where you had to work the revolver which takes 1 minute to shoot the next bullet. What happened in that 1 minute? Accident or Murder? The second jury believed it was murder.

"Law & Order" actor & real life US senator Fred Thompson dies

I used to watch "Law & Order" all the time. Fred Thompson was great in his role on the popular TV series. He had an interesting life. I first heard of him while at country singer, Lorrie Morgan's concert back in 1995. She dated Thompson & because he was so busy. She sang a song called, "I can buy my own roses" because he would send them after not meeting her. Great concert. RIP Fred Thompson.

48 HOURS has woman using BUGS BUNNY DEFENSE after killing her husband

"48 Hours" on CBS has a woman shooting her husband in the head by fan firing a revolver gun. She claimed it was an accident because she & her husband played the cartoon characters of "Elmer Fudd" & "Bugs Bunny." Her husband said there were "No more Buwwets" in the gun. She thought he cleaned the gun & aimed that revolver at his head. She fan fired it like in a movie Western killing her first husband. 

The wife claimed "The Bugs Bunny Defense" & it is unbelievable because she is a compulsive liar. She also practiced shooting a double action revolver with her husband all the time. She then went blonde & wore new clothes while getting married soon after her first husband's death. (I believe it was an execution by the wife who used her eccentricity as innocence).
