48 Hours says, "Mark Twitchell was an aspiring filmmaker who wrote screenplays about murder and compared himself to TV's fictional serial killer, Dexter Morgan. In 2008, police were investigating the disappearance of 38-year-old John Altinger and discovered Twitchell's garage where he had just filmed his latest project about a serial killer."

Saturday Night's '48 Hours' episode 'The Boy Across The Street'

48 HOURS on CBS. Last Saturday's episode was called, "The Boy Across The Street" (5/3/2025). If you missed the segment. Check this out.

Note: This made me angry because of those individuals who believe that a killer has changed his ways. I never believe "they" change at all. They want you to think they found "Jesus" or have done good things in prison. Like earning education degrees and practicing good behavior. Give me a break. The killer in this story deserves to be behind bars - until he dies.

Classic Movie Flashback 'Raw' 1988 with Eddie Murphy

RAW from PARAMOUNT pictures (1988). The recorded stand-up comedy show stars Eddie Murphy. He came out of "Saturday Night Live" (SNL) as the only black comedian on the show (1980-84). His characters are still funny in those sketches. Murphy then became a movie "star" with his debut in "48 Hours" (1982).

The "Raw" production budget climbed to $5 million and grossed an enormous $50 million at the box office. The stand up show broke records and remains the largest cash earner by any comedian.

The controversy surrounded Murphy's vulgar language. He uses the "F" word more than 200 times. I didn't see it in movie theaters, but my brother rented it later on VHS Home Video. Murphy was absolutely hilarious. I couldn't stop laughing because it was the way he said the "F" word. He also had a magnetic presence on stage.

It is interesting that Murphy only did two stand up specials, "Delirious" (1983) and "Raw" (1988). He is funny, but I think Richard Pryor beats him by a mile. He first performed live for Vinyl Records in the 1970's. Then, did his TV specials in the early 1980's. My stomach still hurts laughing so hard with Pryor. (IMO).

"Raw" with Eddie Murphy captured the times of the 1980's. It was never captured that good or funnier.

Western movie 'Rust' is a fine tribute to the late Halyna Hutchins

RUST from FALLING FORWARD FILMS (2025). The Western movie was released on May 2 in select theaters. You can also buy or rent with Video-On-Demand. It stars Alec Baldwin. It was written and directed by Joel Souza.

This was the final film for cinematographer Halyna Hutchins. The production was halted at Santa Fe, NM back in October of 2021. This after Halyna was accidentally shot by a real bullet inside a prop-gun. She later died.

The Hutchins family wanted the movie to be finished. The production was moved to Montana in 2023. All money proceeds will go to the family in Halyna's name.

The story is simple. Lucas Hollister is a 13-year-old who takes care of his younger brother at Wyoming. This after his mom had died. While Lucas chases off a wolf from his property with a rifle. He accidentally shoots and kills a man. He is later charged with pre-meditated murder and is sentenced to "hang" by the neck. While he sits in jail. His long lost grandfather Harlin "Rust" comes and breaks him out. They make a run toward the American Southwest. "Rust" is chased by the law and a determined bounty hunter.

"Rust" was not released in New Mexico where it was mainly filmed. So, I rented it at Amazon Prime Video. If anyone knows me. I love Westerns and I was not disappointed with "Rust."

It is the cinematography that actually makes this Western rise above the rest. Halyna Hutchins captured it beautifully. Especially the rugged mountains and open landscapes. I saw the influence of the classic Western, "The Searches" (1956). The camera caught the home door frames in darkness and the outside filled with light. There are several camera shots like this which shape the characters, the scenes and the continuing story. It was done impressively by Haylna.

What I also found interesting was the light and shadows caught by the camera. It set the tone of each character and their surroundings. The shadow around the face of Harlin "Rust" is a good example. He is an outlaw who is known by many, but mysterious to those whom he meets. Lucas never knew he had a grandfather.

If you get a chance. Watch this Western. You won't be disappointed.

Note: I watched this last night and I am disgusted with some people. They think a murderer changes behind prison bars. Serial killers always find "Jesus" and the Bible. They still have a dark heart. This guy killed a young woman because he wanted to. No matter how much good that he has done in prison. It isn't reality. It's just like the Menendez Brothers. They shot and killed their parents brutally and didn't care afterward. Now, they want a new court Trial after all the good they've done in prison. It doesn't matter if they were abused either. There was no reason to kill the parents.
