Clara Natonabah who comes from Santa Fe will open the INDIAN VILLAGE performance stage on Sept. 10, 2015 at the New Mexico State Fair.

No Powwow in INDIAN VILLAGE at the NEW MEXICO STATE FAIR 2015

Hello everyone -- It looks like there will be no Powwow at the New Mexico State Fair for 2015. I don't see it listed on the official NM State Fair website. Nor do I see it listed on the NM Powwow website. Sometimes they have money for the "Indian Village" & sometimes they don't. 

If I find out that there is a powwow. I'll post the news right here. 

The "Indian Village" has also scaled back their native dances & entertainment for 2015. It is still open & I'm writing Examiner articles on schedules for the village from Sept. 10-20, 2015. Click on the photo below for NM State Fair website.

48 HOURS MYSTERY had a repeat last night & it was about a mom who went missing back in 2007. She was a mother of three kids who had a secret life as a high paid escort. She disappeared in the rough terrain of Colorado. Police finally find a suspect.

Billboard Magazine's top 20 pop songs for 1986

It is hard to believe that 1986 is now 29 years ago from 2015. But, there it is. THE GOLDEN GIRLS was big back then because of 4 elder women dealing with death, old age, sex, menopause, gay men, lesbians, domestic abuse & the list goes on. It was all wrapped up in comedy & all 5 of the actresses in the TV show won Emmy awards. NBC television let the show get a way with a lot of taboo issues in 1986. That's probably why it is a classic TV show today in 2015. It stands up real well.

In pop music -- 1986 was Whitney Houston's year. She was idolized by millions & She began doing drugs in the mid-1980s because she fought to live up to that glamorous image. Lionel Ritchie had his last pop hits & would disappear for years. Prince continued to sell his sexuality. 

My favorite song from 1986 is ADDICTED TO LOVE by Robert Palmer. Before the internet, there was only MTV & VH1 on cable TV. Music artist's had to have music videos to help sell their albums & single records. There were no CD's in 1986. The ADDICTED TO LOVE video rotated on MTV constantly & gave Robert Palmer a number #1 hit song. Those were the days my friend....,

Robert Redford's A WALK IN THE CLOUDS makes $$ in slow box office

Christian film, THE WAR ROOM has claimed the number #1 spot at the box office. STRAIGHT OUTTA COMPTON falls to number #2. A WALK IN THE WOODS hits number #3 & beats the sequel TRANSPORTER 4: REFUELED.

Asians begin to emerge in Hollywood 2015. Where are the Native Americans?

DEADLINE HOLLYWOOD has a blog article on the 2015 emergence of Asian performers in Hollywood. It is an interesting read because Asians are trying to tackle social media aimed at films & TV shows in Los Angeles. But, where are the Native Americans? Yes, we are on social media, but limited only to traditions & culture because "we" are largely absent from mainstream films & TV. We are trapped inside the "Independent" idea.

DATELINE 2 teen girls completely disappear in 2-hour VANISHED

Last night's episode of DATELINE was a 2-hour episode on 2 teen girls who disappeared in California. It was a repeat, but VANISHED nabbed 6.06 million TV viewers overall. 

It was the last episode on Thursday night until further notice from NBC. The 2015 Fall TV season will begin soon with new shows & premiere's of popular returning programs. DATELINE will remain on Friday nights.

Robert Redford's A WALK IN THE WOODS opens with $1.97 million at box office

TRANSPORTER 4: REFUELED grabbed $375,000 in Thursday night previews. A WALK IN THE WOODS with Nick Nolte & Robert Redford opened on Wednesday & nabbed $1.97 million over two days. It will be a long Labor Day weekend 2015, but Redford is still an aging movie star that keeps on going.

DATELINE tonight on Friday Sept. 4, 2015 is a Repeat, Repeat, Repeat!

I am still befuddled by this mystery because I'm not sure about the killer in this episode. MYSTERY ON THE EARLY SHIFT aired last November 2014. It was a brutal murder of a female worker on the early morning shift of a manufacturing company.

DATELINE Thursday ends tonight Sept. 3, 2015

DATELINE announced on their Facebook page that tonight will be the last Thursday night episode until further notice. The Fall TV season on NBC will begin soon with new shows as the summer TV season ends for 2015.

Tonight's DATELINE episode is another repeat called VANISHED. Click on the NBC logo for preview with Keith Morrison. New episodes are coming soon.

MAZE RUNNER: THE SCORCH TRIALS filmed in New Mexico opens Sept. 18, 2015

MAZE RUNNER was a surprise box office hit in 2014. The sequel MAZE RUNNER: THE SCORCH TRIALS opens in theaters Sept. 18, 2015. The third sequel THE DEATH CURE is now in pre-production. They're all based on the best selling novels aimed at youth.

Roscoe Pond will recap season 4 of LONGMIRE on Netflix Sept. 10, 2015

Hello Everyone: I am a big fan of the TV modern western LONGMIRE. It will premiere on Sept. 10, 2015 over at the streaming giant NETFLIX. The 10 episodes will stream online & I will recap one episode each day for 10 days. 

LONGMIRE had filmed in New Mexico this past spring & summer 2014. NETFLIX picked up the show after A&E cancelled it after 3 successful TV seasons. There was a cliffhanger too that excited fans everywhere. On Sept. 10, we'll finally see what happened to Branch & his dad after a mysterious gunshot. Also, we'll see what Walt Longmire does after finding out who really killed his wife Martha.

EVEREST opens at Venice film festival to good reviews. Opens in US Sept. 18, 2015

EVEREST is based on the 1996 tragedy where mountain climbers died in a severe storm while climbing the mountain. The film recently premiered at the Venice film festival 2015 to some good reviews. Go to the HOLLYWOOD REPORTER for their review. It will be in IMAX theaters to show you the real "Everest" up close & personal. It looks pretty scary too.

Below is the International film trailer dubbed in the "Italian" language. Somehow, it makes the film a little more dramatic. Hah!

The 1960 western remake with Denzel Washington called THE MAGNIFICENT SEVEN seeks Native American Horse Riders. It is set to film in New Mexico real soon.

Robert Redford is still making films A WALK IN THE WOODS 2015

Old movie stars -- Robert Redford & Paul Newman were looking for a movie to re-team in when Newman died. Redford bought the book rights to A WALK IN THE WOODS & is now teaming up with Nick Nolte. Boy -- both are getting up there in age, but this is supposed to be a comedy for elders. The film opens Labor Day weekend 2015.

MRS. UNIVERSE 2015 is Cree First Nations Ashley Callingbull Burnham

I hate "Name" dropping because it gets you nowhere. And it won't now..., I met Ashley Callingbull Burnham when she was a judge for the 2014 MISS INDIAN WORLD PAGEANT. It was at the convention center at downtown Albuquerque. I was covering for Examiner News. I wanted to take a picture of her & this native guy wanted a "Selfie" with her so badly. I was forced to wait for him to get close to her. She was nice & I recognized her from the TV show BLACKSTONE. I finally took the picture & I think I used it in a slideshow in my article. 

Congratulations Ashley on winning the MRS. UNIVERSE 2015. The first First Nations woman ever to win the title.

EVEREST 2015 I would never even attempt to climb any mountain. This movie looks scary.

WE ARE YOUR FRIENDS 4th biggest flop opening at the box office since 1982

I've never watched anything with Zac Efron in it. So, suffice it to say "who cares?" But, WE ARE YOUR FRIENDS opened real low at the US box office.

Warner Brothers bought the film rights for $2 million & I wish they would buy a good Native American film. But, we aren't on their radar because WE ARE YOUR FRIENDS was a passion project for Zac Efron. The film is the 4th biggest flop opening since 1982.

But come on, a movie about a rising DJ who is befriended by an over-the-hill DJ. It could work I guess if they had a script about the "art" of being a DJ because it is popular. But...,

HITMAN: 47 receives scathing reviews from critics & film audiences

The 2007 film HITMAN is based on a video game & when it was released. It got bad reviews from critics & movie audiences. I actually liked it. This new action film HITMAN: 47 is receiving the same bad reviews. But, I "Love" action movies & I want to see it for myself. - Wahoo!

DOWNTON ABBEY Season 6 trailer released on ITV

It really is coming to an end with DOWNTON ABBEY. The final TV season begins in September 2015 at the United Kingdom on ITV. It will air in the United States coming January of 2016.

The Trailer of the 6th TV season show's us a lot. It looks like the Abbey will be vacated before the U.S. stock market crash of 1929. I wonder if Lady Mary will find a good man. It looks like Anne is moving on from the murder charges of her rapist. Will Tom leave Downton with his daughter & never return? It looks like Lady Rose will find a husband & father for her secret daughter. I'm gonna actually miss the gay butler Thomas who was always a gossip & scheme-monger.

There were rumors of a movie in the works. True or not. That would be great. I'd like to see what happens to Lady Mary.

1987 the top 20 pop songs according to billboard magazine

Well, looking at the music videos of 1987. My generation had big hair which was both the men & the women. Looking back, it is quite embarrassing except for the time period because it was the "In Thing." Hah!

THE COSBY SHOW was the number #1 TV show in the ratings. No one today gets it. That show had big TV ratings because there was only 4 major networks. Cable TV was only growing at the time & Rap music was also in its' infancy. In just 1985 with I FEEL FOR YOU by Chaka Kahn featuring Melli Mel. He was asking for a Rap category inside the Grammys.

Can you believe it? WALK LIKE AN EGYPTIAN was the number #1 song that year. Jesus, it was so stupid, but everyone was walking like an Egyptian...,

My favorite song from 1987 was THE WAY IT IS by Bruce Hornsby. I bought the cassette tape single & worn it out. Remember, CD's weren't even on the music radar in 1987. Hah!
