'48 Hours' Andrew Cunanan goes on a killing spree in 1997

"48 Hours" (CBS) was seen Saturday evening at 10/9 p.m. It aired at 9 p.m. (central time) in Albuquerque, NM on KRQE 13. Last night's episode on May 20, 2017 was called, “Murder by Design." In the overnight TV ratings it garnered 2.83 million TV viewers overall. It reached 0.4 million TV viewers in the all important 18 to 49 adult demographic. “20/20 Saturday” (ABC) grabbed 3.33 overall & 0.5 with adults. “SNL Vintage” (NBC) 2.72 overall & 0.8 with adults.

"48 Hours" is an investigative program that covers crime & murder in the United States. This episode was reported and narrated by Richard Schlesinger.

“Murder by Design.” July 1997 at Miami Beach, Florida. Gianni Versace was shot dead on the outside steps of his home. He was a fashion designer who captured the world in the early 1990's. An unknown male was seen walking from the Versace house who was carrying a gun. He was dressed in a black sweater and disappeared into a parking garage. He left behind his clothes lying next to a stolen truck. Identification cards had named him as Andrew Cunanan. There was a manhunt throughout Florida. Versace was the last victim of five men killed by Cunanan. He had been obsessed with Versace for many years. He also wanted to be remembered for something whether good or bad.
