'The Keepers' 1969 murder of a popular nun Cathy Cesnik

THE KEEPERS on NET-FLIX. (Season 1. Episode 1.). Tom Nugent is a journalist who wrote a 6,000 word article on the murder of Cathy Cesnik (1942-1969). Gemma and Abby went to the Archbishop-Keough high school at Baltimore, Maryland. Sister Cathy was one of their teacher's who was like an older family sibling. She was murdered during their senior year. Gemma interviews people and Abby does complete research. They have been trying to find out what happened to Cathy since 1969.

Sister Cathy left her apartment in November of 1969 to go shopping at 7 p.m. (There are black and white photographs of Cathy's car). It was abandoned 50 feet from the apartment she shared with Sister Russell. The car was sticking out onto the road and it was believed that someone deliberately parked it there. Cathy was said to be kidnapped and it shocked her high school students at the time. Her dead body was later found by several hunters in a field (1970) and her skull had been bludgeoned in.

(There are more black and white photos of Cathy's body). She was laying on her back with her clothes stripped down to her waist. It looked like she was dumped after being murdered. Police interviewed many witnesses. Cathy was abducted and killed with no clear evidence. Her killer may have known the local area well. Her car had no forensic evidence inside it even though DNA testing would come 40 years later. What happened to Sister Cathy?

“The Keepers” is now streaming online over at “Netflix.”
