The 48 HOURS (CBS) episode called, "The Chowchilla Kidnapping" aired Saturday night (10/12/2019) at 10/9 p.m. In the overnight TV ratings. It garnered 3.32 million TV viewers overall. It reached 0.4 million TV viewers in the all important 18 to 49 adult demographic. "College Football" (ABC) grabbed 3.56 overall and 0.6 with adults. "College Football" 3.04 overall & 0.7 with adults.
"The Chowchilla Kidnapping." Chowchilla, California in 1976. Three gunman drew guns and kidnapped 26 children on a school bus. One gunman took over the driver wheel and drove these kids to a desolate river bed. Those kids had to jump into two vans. The gunmen made sure their feet never touched the dirt ground. They wanted no evidence left behind.
The local sheriff called the state Governor and 30 FBI agents were assigned to this mass kidnapping. The school bus was found, but was located only from the air by helicopter. After 12 hours in darkness. The kids were forced to climb down a ladder inside a van buried under dirt....
