Roscoe Pond will recap season 4 of LONGMIRE on Netflix Sept. 10, 2015

Hello Everyone: I am a big fan of the TV modern western LONGMIRE. It will premiere on Sept. 10, 2015 over at the streaming giant NETFLIX. The 10 episodes will stream online & I will recap one episode each day for 10 days. 

LONGMIRE had filmed in New Mexico this past spring & summer 2014. NETFLIX picked up the show after A&E cancelled it after 3 successful TV seasons. There was a cliffhanger too that excited fans everywhere. On Sept. 10, we'll finally see what happened to Branch & his dad after a mysterious gunshot. Also, we'll see what Walt Longmire does after finding out who really killed his wife Martha.

EVEREST opens at Venice film festival to good reviews. Opens in US Sept. 18, 2015

EVEREST is based on the 1996 tragedy where mountain climbers died in a severe storm while climbing the mountain. The film recently premiered at the Venice film festival 2015 to some good reviews. Go to the HOLLYWOOD REPORTER for their review. It will be in IMAX theaters to show you the real "Everest" up close & personal. It looks pretty scary too.

Below is the International film trailer dubbed in the "Italian" language. Somehow, it makes the film a little more dramatic. Hah! 

THE MAGNIFICENT SEVEN western remake seeks Native American Horse Riders

The 1960 western remake with Denzel Washington called THE MAGNIFICENT SEVEN seeks Native American Horse Riders. It is set to film in New Mexico real soon.

Robert Redford is still making films A WALK IN THE WOODS 2015

Old movie stars -- Robert Redford & Paul Newman were looking for a movie to re-team in when Newman died. Redford bought the book rights to A WALK IN THE WOODS & is now teaming up with Nick Nolte. Boy -- both are getting up there in age, but this is supposed to be a comedy for elders. The film opens Labor Day weekend 2015.

MRS. UNIVERSE 2015 is Cree First Nations Ashley Callingbull Burnham

I hate "Name" dropping because it gets you nowhere. And it won't now..., I met Ashley Callingbull Burnham when she was a judge for the 2014 MISS INDIAN WORLD PAGEANT. It was at the convention center at downtown Albuquerque. I was covering for Examiner News. I wanted to take a picture of her & this native guy wanted a "Selfie" with her so badly. I was forced to wait for him to get close to her. She was nice & I recognized her from the TV show BLACKSTONE. I finally took the picture & I think I used it in a slideshow in my article. 

Congratulations Ashley on winning the MRS. UNIVERSE 2015. The first First Nations woman ever to win the title.

EVEREST 2015 I would never even attempt to climb any mountain. This movie looks scary.

WE ARE YOUR FRIENDS 4th biggest flop opening at the box office since 1982

I've never watched anything with Zac Efron in it. So, suffice it to say "who cares?" But, WE ARE YOUR FRIENDS opened real low at the US box office.

Warner Brothers bought the film rights for $2 million & I wish they would buy a good Native American film. But, we aren't on their radar because WE ARE YOUR FRIENDS was a passion project for Zac Efron. The film is the 4th biggest flop opening since 1982.

But come on, a movie about a rising DJ who is befriended by an over-the-hill DJ. It could work I guess if they had a script about the "art" of being a DJ because it is popular. But...,

HITMAN: 47 receives scathing reviews from critics & film audiences

The 2007 film HITMAN is based on a video game & when it was released. It got bad reviews from critics & movie audiences. I actually liked it. This new action film HITMAN: 47 is receiving the same bad reviews. But, I "Love" action movies & I want to see it for myself. - Wahoo!

DOWNTON ABBEY Season 6 trailer released on ITV

It really is coming to an end with DOWNTON ABBEY. The final TV season begins in September 2015 at the United Kingdom on ITV. It will air in the United States coming January of 2016.

The Trailer of the 6th TV season show's us a lot. It looks like the Abbey will be vacated before the U.S. stock market crash of 1929. I wonder if Lady Mary will find a good man. It looks like Anne is moving on from the murder charges of her rapist. Will Tom leave Downton with his daughter & never return? It looks like Lady Rose will find a husband & father for her secret daughter. I'm gonna actually miss the gay butler Thomas who was always a gossip & scheme-monger.

There were rumors of a movie in the works. True or not. That would be great. I'd like to see what happens to Lady Mary.

1987 the top 20 pop songs according to billboard magazine

Well, looking at the music videos of 1987. My generation had big hair which was both the men & the women. Looking back, it is quite embarrassing except for the time period because it was the "In Thing." Hah!

THE COSBY SHOW was the number #1 TV show in the ratings. No one today gets it. That show had big TV ratings because there was only 4 major networks. Cable TV was only growing at the time & Rap music was also in its' infancy. In just 1985 with I FEEL FOR YOU by Chaka Kahn featuring Melli Mel. He was asking for a Rap category inside the Grammys.

Can you believe it? WALK LIKE AN EGYPTIAN was the number #1 song that year. Jesus, it was so stupid, but everyone was walking like an Egyptian...,

My favorite song from 1987 was THE WAY IT IS by Bruce Hornsby. I bought the cassette tape single & worn it out. Remember, CD's weren't even on the music radar in 1987. Hah!

COLD JUSTICE a wife is accused of shooting her unstable husband

TRAJECTORY is what the latest episode is called on COLD JUSTICE. A controlling & manipulative wife says that she finds her husband dead in an apparent suicide. He shot himself in the back of the head which the police & prosecutor do not believe. 

Investigators come in & go deep with interviews of family, friends & enemies of the wife. She is as cold as it gets, but they have to prove she shot her husband who was unstable & only wanted a wife & kids. Poor guy, everyone loved him.

DATELINE tonight on Friday Aug. 28, 2015 is a Repeat, Repeat, Repeat!

Tonight's DATELINE is called SOMEONE WAS OUT THERE. It is a repeat from earlier this year. I was surprised that I got thousand's of views on my usual TV recap for Examiner. DATELINE & Keith Morrison went to my home town of Pendleton, Oregon to report on a murder & an attempted murder of a local resident. 

Pendleton is less than 10 miles from my Indian Reservation in Oregon.

1960 THE MAGNIFICENT SEVEN western remake will film in New Mexico

The 1960 western THE MAGNIFICENT SEVEN will be remade with Denzel Washington. It will film around the state of New Mexico. The New Mexico Film Office announced this news today. MGM owns the rights to the 1960 film that has gained cult status over the years. The studio was in early talks in 2014 with a remake & getting Denzel on board. It looks like another cool western is coming to "The Land of Enchantment."

Denzel & the rest of the cast have a lot to live up to because of the 1960 cast with Yul Brynner & Steve McQueen. Just my opinion, because back then, they were big movie stars.

48 HOURS reports on a teen mom murdered back in 1989

48 HOURS episode called, DECADES OF DECEIT. A 16-year-old teen just gave birth to a baby girl. She is brutally murdered in a home invasion gone wrong. Her death becomes a cold case for 22 years. It is a total surprise when investigators match a DNA hand print to some one close.

Sam Bearpaw will be in THE REVENANT movie 2015

I ran into Sam Bearpaw during the silent auction before the IAIA gala at Santa Fe, NM. Which of course was before the Santa Fe Indian Market. Sam told me that he just finished filming scenes in the film THE REVANANT which will star Leonardo DiCaprio. If I recall, our conversation correctly. Sam said the movie shoot was fine even though some of the actors & crew claim that it was a "Living Hell."

There are Native Americans in the film & the trailer uses native sounds with drums & the shaking of elk hoove's. Sam told me that he enjoyed working on the film & I can't wait to see it this December 2015. Check out the cool trailer below for THE REVENANT.

Americans reviewing Movie trailers is popular trend on YouTube

I know I'm behind the curve. Movie lovers & critics are now getting into reviewing film trailers. I mean, some critics are ripping apart trailers because they really have nothing else to do. I understand that everyone has an opinion & there are so many on YouTube & elsewhere that it is ridiculous. 

So, I try to find the movie lover who enjoys film making as much as I do. No matter what, if I like the film then I want to watch it without taking a part every little detail. I watch to be entertained which makes me forget other things for a few hours in a movie theater.

Below is a guy who likes the teaser trailer for THE REVENANT with Leonardo DiCaprio.

"Indigenous Fine Art Market" (IFAM) 2015 shake up with organizers

The 2015 "Indigenous Fine Art Market" (IFAM) looked like it had a great second year. As I was getting ready to report on IFAM this year. I saw that it didn't have the PR push it had last year. I wondered why? 

I just found out that one of the main organizers "Paula Rivera" was fired from IFAM. An eyewitness found Paula bagging groceries over at "Sprouts" last spring. No one really knows why she was let go of her position from IFAM at Santa Fe. But, she has now left the state.

IFAM was a big gamble in the Santa Fe artist community. That gamble paid off as patrons flocked to a contemporary Indigenous Market in 2014. John Torres Nez resigned in March of 2014 as the chief operating officer of the Southwestern association for Indian Arts (SWAIA). It runs the Santa Fe Indian Market. Soon after, Paula Rivera & Tailinh Agoyo resigned too from SWAIA. They had a few months to organize IFAM on the "eve" dates before SWAIA had their regular Indian Market.

As IFAM begins to expand outside of Santa Fe. The question is -- Did anyone replace Paula among the top 3 organizers? If so, Who? Or is it run only by John & Talinh? Stay tuned...,

COLD JUSTICE a mother bludgeoned & set on fire in UP IN FLAMES

I like it that investigators interview as many witnesses as possible to get to the truth. Even after 20 years from a cold case back in 1995. A woman & mother is bludgeoned & then body set on fire inside her car. It is all over custody of kids. 

Former CSI investigator Yolanda is now only part of the show when they re-enact crime scenes. She helps with DNA etc., Kelly & a male investigator do all the interviews & breaking down of suspects. All of them travel to the small towns where ever the murder takes place. It is still a good show.

DATELINE a husband is charged with killing his wife in MYSTERY AT HEATH BAR FARM

I watched this & it is an update from a few years ago. A husband is convicted of murdering his wife until several witnesses come forward saying that they didn't see the husband near the home at the time his wife is gunned down. The husband gets a new trial & the verdict surprises you. I don't think he did it, but who did if he didn't kill the wife?

2015 "Native American Clothing Contest" on 2nd day of the SANTA FE INDIAN MARKET

Well, it's over & my article on the NATIVE AMERICAN CLOTHING CONTEST was published yesterday (Sunday). It was a nice, warm & sunny day in Santa Fe too. There were a lot of people on the second day which is rare because they all come on day one. But, it was big.

Roscoe at Santa Fe Indian Market 2015 on Day 2

Well, it has come to another end of the SANTA FE INDIAN MARKET in 2015. This is Sunday on Day 2. I walked through the many vendor booths & stopped at Dorothy Grant's booth (Native Designer). This young native male model makes me look real old too. He looks familiar, but I asked where the female models were?

There were over 100,000 patrons visiting the Indian Market & this year is no different because it is packed. There has to be more with the INDIGENOUS FINE ART MARKET which ended yesterday. I had fun again covering both Market's for Examiner News. Please, check out my slide shows attached to my articles.

Native designer Jolonzo Goldtooth unveiled his New York fashions in Santa Fe

JOLONZO GOLDTOOTH put on a spectacular fashion show last night. He is Navajo & he unveiled his 2015 designs for New York Fashion week. It was held at a nice little art institute in Santa Fe. They had a plus size native female model too. She looked great. I enjoyed DANCING EARTH'S basket weaving - modern dance - piece the most.

There were a lot of patrons & fans of Indigenous art at IFAM 2015. I asked a few artist's how they were doing & several told me they sold big on Friday morning of IFAM day 2.

Roscoe one day before SANTA FE INDIAN MARKET 2015

I was walking up to the INDIGENOUS FINE ART MARKET when I ran into native actress, Princess Lucaj. I hadn't seen her since Hollywood back in 2007. She moved back to Alaska & started a family. She told me that she is now on the IAIA board & will visit Santa Fe 4 times out of the year. It's good to see her & I'll probably see more of her down here in New Mexico. 

Her friend took this photo of Princess & I at the downtown plaza in Santa Fe, NM. I look tired because I am & I didn't realize my shirt is way too big on me. Hah! Princess looks great. It is one day before the Indian Market & it's getting real busy.
