'48 hours' Complete male DNA from 1996 still cannot match a killer

"48 Hours" (CBS) was seen Saturday evening at 10/9 p.m. It aired at 9 p.m. (central time) in Albuquerque, NM on KRQE 13. The episode on April 15, 2017 was called, “The DNA of a Killer." In the overnight TV ratings it garnered 3.75 million TV viewers overall. It reached 0.5 million TV viewers in the all important 18 to 49 adult demographic. “The 10 Commandments" (ABC) grabbed 5.18 overall & 0.8 with adults (8:30-11 p.m.). “NHL Playoffs” (NBC) nabbed 2.29 overall & 0.6 with adults.

"48 Hours" is an investigative program that covers crime & murder in the United States. This episode was reported and narrated by Anne-Marie Green.

“The DNA of a Killer.” 18-year-old Angie Dodge was stabbed to death multiple times back in 1996. There was male DNA left at the crime scene. Police did not find a match to that DNA for 20 years. They arrested Chris Tapp and questioned him for 28 hours. He confessed to holding Angie down while his friend Mike stabbed her. There was no DNA of Chris found at the crime scene. Police made a controversial move and went to “ancestry.com” and tested family (familial) DNA. They got a “hit” with Michael Usry, but police targeted his son Michael Ursy Jr. He just happened to be a filmmaker who specializes in “murder.” Police found that Michael's DNA was not found at the crime scene. Chris Tapp had been sentenced to 30-years-to-life in prison. So, whose DNA matches the killer of Angie Dodge?

'Hawaii Five-0' Adam finds a human bone inside construction site

It reached 1.0 million TV viewers in the all important 18 to 49 adult demographic. “Shark Tank” (ABC) grabbed 4.29 overall & 1.0 with adults (repeat). “Dateline” (NBC) nabbed 4.29 overall & 0.8 with adults (9-11 p.m).

“Hawaii Five-0” stars, Alex O'Loughlin (Steve McGarrett), Daniel Dae Kim (Chin Ho Kelly), Grace Park (Kono Kalakaua), Scott Caan (Danny Williams) & Chi McBride (Lou Grover).

“Waimaka 'ele'ele.” A group of men dressed in black and are carrying guns. Their car rams into another at an intersection. The men jump out and car-jack another while shooting bullets into the air. They drive off leaving behind a dead man who survived “Pearl Harbor.” Chin Ho pulls security cameras from a bank that was robbed by four men. Steve looks at the masked men and they appear to be trained in special forces. They track a man back to a home where it is rigged with gas explosives. Steve see's a bald headed white male running from the home. He goes in pursuit and kills the suspect. Meanwhile, Adam is working in construction. He finds a human bone at his work-site. His boss tells him to let it go, but Adam goes to Jerry for some help.

'Dateline' A serial killer has a friend at Anaheim, California

"Dateline" (NBC) can be seen each Friday evening at 9/8 p.m. It aired in Albuquerque, NM at 8 p.m. (central time) on KOB 4. “Good and Evil.” It is Anaheim, California 2014. A young woman's dead body was found wrapped inside a plastic tarp. Homicide detective Julissa Trapp decided to find out who this 21-year-old was. There was a tattoo on her body marked “Jodi”, but her real name was Jarae. Julissa found out that Jarae was a prostitute back in Oklahoma. She moved to California and sexual predators target prostitutes. Julissa heard that two other young prostitutes had disappeared at Santa Ana, CA just south of Anaheim. All disappeared in the span of 6 to 9 months between each other. Julissa found out that a serial killer was on the loose who happens to be working with a friend.

Brooke was found on a Saturday night after attending a college game. Her ex-husband had an alibi who was watching their child. Police looked at Brook's iPhone. She had texted Daniel with whom she dated a few times. He flew back to Colorado and had kept texting her long after she was killed. Another man named Shawn had also texted her. He was the last person to see Brooke alive. Who killed this young and lovely woman?

Fans clamor for next 'Rush Hour' movie

"Rush Hour 3" came out back in 2007. It starred Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker. It was the final sequel to a popular franchise that began back in 1998. Fans over at YouTube are waiting for the next sequel..., "Rush Hour 3" was a huge seller on DVD and BluRay with $80 million. The production cost $140 million and the world wide box office total climbed to $258 million. There is no word on a 4th film and it's now 2017.

CBS cancelled the "Rush Hour" TV series after 10 episodes in 2016.  It starred 2 actor's much younger than Chan and Tucker.

Below are outtakes and bloopers from all 3 "Rush Hour" films. Jackie Chan does his own action stunt's and as you can see. His English language isn't very good and it's funny.

Brett Ratner directed all 3 "Rush Hour" films. He told "Vulture" that he would like to do another, but the cost's may be high because of Tucker's and Chan's salaries.

Shortly after getting my union card, I was fortunate enough to attend the national convention and I was able to get a glimpse into what the heart of the union is and what it stands for. It was amazing to see hundreds of members gathered from around the country to focus on the business side of the industry. This was the group that shaped the contracts that we work under, the group that fought for the rights that we have for safe working conditions, competitive wages and so much more."

"After experiencing what I did at the SAG-AFTRA national convention, I knew that I had to serve the union in some capacity. By working with the SAG-AFTRA New Mexico Local Board, I feel like I am staying informed on the key issues facing actors and what is being done about them. I also feel that I am giving back to the union and community of actors that has already given so much to me. Not only that, but I also feel like I now have more of a voice in shaping the policies that will affect not just my career, but other actors as well."

Last episode of 'Elementary' is not streaming on official CBS website

ELEMENTARY on CBS. TV fans over at Facebook are complaining that this wonderful TV show keeps getting pre-empted on Sunday evenings at 10/9 p.m. An Award show or Professional Game sport keeps running over. Last week's episode called, "High Heat" was pre-empted by the "Golf Masters" in the central and eastern time zones. It was seen though on the west pacific time zone. The network usually moves the episode online for TV viewers, but with "High Heat." It is not streaming at all.

I just checked the CBS schedule and "High Heat" will air this Sunday April 16, 2017 at 10/9 p.m. It will follow the special, "Stayin' Alive: A Grammy salute to the music of the Bee Gees." That's if it doesn't run over. 

TV fans believe "Elementary" was moved to Sundays to be cancelled. Hardcore fans have flocked to Sunday nights, even though it keeps getting pre-empted. TV ratings have almost stayed the same from last Spring 2016. It is also popular because of DVR recording, CBS All Access and the online repeats. CBS has yet to renew the crime show for a 6th TV season. 

(I hope it gets a renewal and please move it back to Thursday nights at 10/9 p.m. All new TV shows have tanked in that time slot since a year ago). 

By the way, if CBS wants a TV show die early and fast. The network moves a struggling and/or cancelled series to Saturday nights. "Rush Hour" and sadly, "Training Day" are good examples.

'48 Hours: NCIS' will premiere Tuesday April 25, 2017

48 HOURS: NCIS on CBS. The first episode will premiere on a Tuesday night at 10/9 p.m. "48 Hours" used to repeat twice during the summer which was Saturday and Tuesday evenings. I will TV recap each episode right here on this blog. 

The network says, "CBS News to launch new, six-part series taking viewers inside the unforgettable cases handled by the real-life Naval Criminal Investigative Service."

An all new '48 Hours' Saturday April 15, 2017

48 HOURS on CBS. The brand new episode is called, "The DNA of a Killer" that will air this Saturday at 10/9 p.m. 

CBS says, "Police have DNA evidence in a brutal murder, but can't match a killer -- so how did a public DNA database lead police to suspect a filmmaker of murder? Anne-Marie Green investigates."

'48 Hours' Beauty queen 'killer' indictment & second suspect arrested

48 HOURS on CBS. The 2008 episode called, "Stolen Beauty" covered the disappearance of Tara Grinstead in 2005. She was a former beauty queen and a local high school teacher. Ryan Alexander Duke was arrested 12 years after Tara's disappearance 2007. He has been charged with burglary, aggravated assault, concealment of death, malice murder and 2 felony counts of murder. Ryan choked Tara to death in her home and said he buried her body inside a pecan farm. 

A second suspect named Bo Dukes was also arrested. He has been charged with concealment of death, tampering with evidence and "hindering the apprehension of a criminal for allegedly helping Duke hide Grinstead’s body." Tara's remains have not been found. Ryan and Bo were former students of Tara.

CBS is not streaming "Stolen Beauty" online at their official website. Below is a recorded fan video uploaded to YouTube from 2008. Also included in the episode is the missing case of Jennifer Kesse. She vanished in the same way as Tara, but in Florida state.

"What factors are my residuals based on? Residuals are based on formulas that take into account such things as the contract in place during the specific year, time spent on the production, the production type and the market where the product appears (TV, video/DVD, pay television, basic cable, new media)."

"Who is entitled to receive residuals? All performers hired under or upgraded to a principal performer agreement whose performance remains in the final product are entitled to residuals. This includes performers, professional singers, stunt performers, stunt coordinators, pilots, dancers employed under Schedule J and puppeteers."

"Do background actors receive residuals? No, background actors do not receive them, unless they are upgraded to principal performers."

"Do you receive residuals for an initial release? No. Initial compensation covers a project’s preliminary release for the market in which it was produced. Residuals are due only for use of a production in media markets beyond the exhibition covered by initial compensation."

"When are residuals due? Here’s a quick guide...,"

CBS 'Elementary' seen only on West Coast

“Elementary” (CBS) can be seen each Sunday evening at 10/9 p.m. It aired at 9 p.m. (central time) in Albuquerque, NM on KRQE 13. Last night's episode on April 9, 2017 was called, “High Heat.” The golf “Masters” ran over a full hour and “Elementary” was pre-empted in the central and eastern time zones. It was shown on the west coast in the pacific time zone, but there is no overnight TV ratings.

“High Heat.” It has been a week after Shinwell ambushed and beat up Sherlock. Both Watson and Sherlock decide to move on even though they are still dealing with what happened. Meanwhile, a man has been burned alive inside an incinerator furnace. Sherlock guesses that the man is Fred Kirby. There was another man burned to death too. Fred is known as the worst private investigator in New York. Sherlock finds out that him and Watson are both part of his P.I., organization. Fred turned out to be collecting murder memorabilia. He was then killed for it. Who is the other man inside that incinerator with Fred?

SAG-AFTRA New Mexico Local Board Member -- "When we think of the “biz” side of showbiz, our checklist usually lists things like contracts, headshots and classes. Rarely do we think of legislation, but it is something that can have a drastic effect on our wages and opportunities. Neither New Mexico’s economy nor its booming film industry are immune to these things. Recently, two bills came up during the legislative session that really needed our attention."

"First was House Bill 192, which was intended to increase the film incentive rebate cap annually based on the current consumer price index. This would have allowed increases to occur naturally given current market strength, so if the cap went up, more productions would come because there is more cap room to accommodate them."

"This bill was film-friendly and its introduction coincided with the Film & Media Day. It was easy for the local film industry to voice their support for the bill and to thank the legislators who were in favor of it. While the bill was tabled, the industry’s support had a positive impact on the authors of the bill and all signs point to similar bills being brought forth in the future."

Things were a little bit different on Saturday, Feb. 25, when the New Mexico House Labor and Economic Development Committee met to discuss the so-called “right-to-work” bill HB 432. Gov. Susana Martinez had promised to sign the bill if it made it to her desk. It didn’t."

"The defeat of this bill was due in part to the large number of union workers who showed up from around the state. In fact, so many people came to voice their opposition that the hearing had to be moved into the chamber itself."

"It wasn’t just union members from SAG-AFTRA, IATSE and the New Mexico State Federation of Labor, AFL-CIO, who stood up and made their voices heard, it was elevator workers, sheet metal workers and a handful of other unions that knew this bill was not good for the workers of New Mexico. Union members spoke to the chamber not only about the benefits of being in a union but also how it had impacted their lives for the better. There were a handful of workers who had come from “right-to-work” states and talked about how they saw a decrease in wages and an increase in job duties."

"When it came time for the chamber to vote, the bill was tabled indefinitely by a 6-5 vote. So the next time you are thinking about the “biz” side of showbiz, be sure to add current legislation to your checklist."

Jane Austen's 1995 'Persuasion' version is the best

Michelle had asked me to compare two Jane Austen movies made a decade a part. “Persuasion 1995” and “Persuasion 2007.” The first had a top rate movie budget. The second was a made-for-TV BBC production with less money. There is a big difference in setting, authenticity and detail. The first is by far better in regards to casting. Amanda Root (Anne Elliot 1995) is the perfect age. Sally Hawkins (Anne Elliot 2007) is far too young.

Anne rejected Frederick Wentworth 8 years before in his offer of marriage. He goes off to war and returns a wealthy man. He is sought after by young women. Anne has become an old spinster (age 27) who has no men in her life. She's nearly forgotten by her social climbing father and sisters.

(2007) Anne writes in her journal and cries over Wentworth. She also narrates how she feels and how Frederick might feel. She even cries tear-drops on her journal. It's all melo-dramatic. (1995) Anne holds her emotions intact even while looking at her age in the mirror. She takes care of her family first. You can see all the emotions in her eyes and body language. She's also a lovely woman who knows music, poetry and smart conversation.

(2007) Frederick actually speaks his love for Anne to a friend. He looks at her longingly too like a young teen boy. (1995) Frederick never speaks his emotions. It's all in his eyes, face and body language. The man “shows” us that he still love's Anne. You can even see his jealousy when she talks to other men. No matter how much both of them fight it. They cannot deny their love for each other. (I say, watch the 1995 version).

“Down the back staircase.” Michael Peterson found his wife Kathleen at the bottom of the stairs back in December of 2001. There were washes of blood on the walls in that staircase. She had died. Michael said his wife fell down the stairs and it was an accident. Police detectives began to believe that it wasn't just a fall. Michael claimed that the police were out to get him. He wrote untruths about them in his newspaper column. He then became the prime suspect in Kathleen's supposed death fall. Their marriage was split wide open and they were in heavy financial debt. The autopsy report revealed that Kathleen was bludgeoned in the head. Michael also hired a male escort during his marriage.

"Here’s what’s been happening for us over the past several months"

"Take 1 - We celebrated the SAG Awards in late January at a new venue for us, the Albuquerque Country Club. It’s always fun to meet face to face with fellow members for what has always been a lovely soiree. The venue was classy, the food was excellent and it appeared a good time was had by all."

"Take 2 - A couple weeks later, we set up a table at Film & Media Day at the Roundhouse in Santa Fe. This year’s celebration of our local industry was packed and attended by several thousand people over the course of the day. Many of our members stopped by to say hello, and we had the opportunity to chat with pre-members, who had questions about the benefits of membership and how to join. Actor Chris Browning, a former Taos resident, was our guest speaker and expressed his gratitude and enthusiasm for his success, which had its beginnings in the New Mexico film and television industry. Also, SAG-AFTRA Regional Education & Outreach Liaison Cynthia Williams conducted a very informative workshop regarding our low budget contracts. In attendance was a sizable number of serious independent filmmakers. I hope to see their films being produced and shot here soon."

Jay Leno returns to 'Tonight Show' monologue & targets Donald Trump

'Hawaii Five-0' The team is taken hostage on a private island

“Hawaii Five-0” (CBS) can be seen each Friday evening at 9/8 p.m. It aired at 8 p.m. (central time) in Albuquerque, NM on KRQE 13. Last night's episode on April 7, 2017 was called, “Ua malo'o ka wai.” In the overnight TV ratings it garnered 8.73 million TV viewers overall. It reached 1.0 million TV viewers in the all important 18 to 49 adult demographic. “Shark Tank” (ABC) grabbed 4.76 overall & 1.1 with adults. “Dateline” (NBC) nabbed 4.04 overall & 0.8 with adults (9-11 p.m).

“Hawaii Five-0” stars, Alex O'Loughlin (Steve McGarrett), Daniel Dae Kim (Chin Ho Kelly), Grace Park (Kono Kalakaua), Scott Caan (Danny Williams) & Chi McBride (Lou Grover).

“Ua malo'o ka wai.” A young couple are in a storm at night on the ocean. They jump from their small boat and onto a larger one. They find that there are many men dead on board. “Five-0” discovers that Michelle might be behind those deaths because that boat was smuggling drugs. She tried to take down the “Five-0” team after killing the corrupt Gabriel last year. She took back the international gang that Gabriel took over. He is the cousin of Chin Ho who had a daughter. Chin tried to adopt the girl. “Five-0” heads to a private island to seek out Michelle. A bomb explodes and the team is captured. Their communication with Jerry is lost. Their militia captors tell Steve that Michelle is dead and they had taken over. The team is put inside a ground cage.

'Dateline' YouTube Preview 'Down the back staircase' Friday April 7, 2017

DATELINE on NBC. The next 2-hour episode is called, "Down the back staircase" that will air this Friday night at 9/8 p.m. 

NBC says, "In a new, two-hour 'Dateline', Dennis Murphy sits down with Michael Peterson In his first network television interview since his release from prison in 2011. Peterson was originally convicted in 2003 of first degree murder after his wife Kathleen was found dead at the bottom of their staircase. The trial made national headlines, and Murphy has reported on this case for more than a decade."
