Jonestown: An American Tragedy.” Jim Jones was a charismatic preacher who began his crusade at San Francisco, CA. He claimed to be a re-incarnated Jesus Christ who healed the sick through fake miracles. News reporters were closing in on him who suddenly moved to Guyana, South America (1977). 1,000 Americans followed him to a place that he named, “Jonestown.” An NBC crew traveled with U.S., Congressman Leo Ryan to Guyana (1978). There was only one camera which recorded “Jonestown” on the inside. Jim Jones was then seen as “evil incarnate.” Congressman Ryan and two journalists were shot to death. 900 Americans died in a murder/suicide pact after drinking poisoned “kool-aid.”
