LADIES AND GENTLEMAN. This will be my last post on this story....
It's been five days since the "Slap" heard around the world on Oscar night (3/27/22). If you have been living under a rock. Will Smith walked on stage during a live telecast and physically "slapped" Chris Rock. It was after a joke Chris made that was aimed at Will's wife - Jada Pinkett Smith.
Here is what we know so far...,
- The Academy Awards organization gave Will Smith notice of "disciplinary" action against him. They will decide on April 18, 2022. Smith has 15 days to respond in writing. He may be banned, suspended and/or removed as an Academy member.
- The Academy claims they had asked Smith to leave the ceremony after the "slap." Smith refused.
- On Tuesday March 29, 2022. Will Smith had a 6-minute "zoom" call with Academy President David Rubin and CEO Dawn Hudson. Smith apologized again and he was warned about the disciplinary action against him. The Academy's 50 board of Governors were unaware of this meeting.
- Will Packer was the producer of the 94th annual Oscar ceremony. He told "Goodmorning America" that Chris Rock refused to press charges against Smith. Even when LAPD were ready to escort Smith out of the building.
- New video surfaces with Jada Pinkett Smith laughing after the "Slap." That video is on TIK-TOK.
Within the last five days. The public image of Will Smith has taken a major "hit." So many are disagreeing with his actions on the public stage. As the news continues to unfold. His wife Jada is also being criticzed for her role along-side Will. Even though the joke was made at her expense because she has a disease called, "alopecia" It is being reported that Chris Rock didn't know she had the disease.
Even former NBA player Charles Barkley believes Will Smith is 100% wrong in this situation. (His video is below).
Here is the "Goodmorning America" interview with Oscar producer Will Packer.
