The "Rust" western tragedy continues to play out in a Santa Fe court. Cinematographer Halyna Hutchins was shot and killed on-a-film-set by a loaded prop-gun (2021).
Alex Baldwin served as lead actor and producer of the movie. He held the gun that accidentally went off killing Hutchins. The manslaughter charge was dropped against Baldwin.
Here is what we know....
- "Rust" production was moved from New Mexico to Montana. It wrapped filming in May (2023).
- Prosecutors will decide to re-charge Baldwin in August (2023).
- The On-Set Armorer Hannah Gutierrez-Reed asked prosecutors to drop all charges against her. Her job was to handle prop-guns for the "Rust" production.
- Prosecutors say eye-witnesses had seen Hannah drinking alcohol and smoking marijuana during the production. She may have been "hung-over" the day Hutchins was shot by that prop-gun.
- David Halls was the first assistant-director on "Rust." He handed the prop-gun to Baldwin before Hutchins was shot. David pled "No-Contest" to the charge of handling an unsafe fire-arm. He has reportedly quit the entertainment industry.
