SUMMER OLYMPICS at PARIS (NBC) 2024. Well... All of the trash talk between Josh Kerr (Great Britain) and Jakob Ingebrigsten (Norway) ended with Cole Hocker (USA) beating them both in the 1500 meter final.
Kerr is the reigning World Champion (2023) and Jakob is the reigning Olympic champion (2020). They both are very competitive and started a "beef" which lasted a whole year. That led up to the excitement of the Olympic Games at Paris.
Jakob led the race throughout until the last 100 meters. Josh pulled ahead to 1st place but was passed by Cole Hocker in the last meter. He won the Gold medal. Josh was almost caught by Yared Nuguse also from the USA team. He grabbed the Bronze medal. Jakob came in fourth place.
It has been 112 years since two Americans placed at the same time in an Olympic race. Cole broke the Olympic record and the North American record at 3:27.65.
These are the Olympic Games and anything can happen. Cole Hocker planned this race who came from behind deliberately. He let Josh and Jakob battle with each other. He found a path to victory on the inside of lane 1. It was fantastic and thrilling at the same time. Go USA.!!!
